Jesus Christ is right. Jesus Christ, Sunday Lis went to my mom's house and her friend Pin was there. Lissa came running back over here and announced that she wanted to find Jesus. My reaction was, oh, really? And how do you plan to do that? And she told me Pin invited her to Sunday school and a special van would pick her up. A Jesus van..and they'd take her to this place where a bunch of other kids are and they play games and have a lot of fun. It sounded good to her. I told her no. I told her she'd have to ask her mom about that and by the time her mom showed up, church would be over anyway. She was kind of mad at me. She yelled "But, they have snacks!" I have snacks too and you don't have to promise your eternal soul for a pudding cup. She harped on it until I finally told her what I really think. That it's a bunch of brainwashing bullshit and I don't want her exposed to it. Then she smirked because she really just wanted a rise out of me anyway. I underestimate her sometimes.I told mom I didn't appreciate Pin's efforts to recruit my grand daughter into the cult and she shrugged and said, well, it doesn't hurt anybody, she's just being nice. I'm sick of that mentality, that it never hurts. All it does is hurt people. And there's nothing nice about it. Fuck. I don't want Lissa to be told she was born a sinner. They can kiss my ass. Leave my grand kid alone.

Their stupid religion was used to tortue and terrify me as a child and I won't let anyone do that to Lissa. I try to be nice around her about religion, so she can choose what she wants, but, sometimes I get pissed off. I think she likes it when I get pissed and rant.

Christina, I appreciate that, but, I hate religions. I just hate em all. I could go on and on, but, all religions were created for one purpose..to enslave and control.
Now, I could speak of a belief in a higher power, which is not evil or stupid..but, it's always taken back to organized religion. Which is evil. That's how I feel.

Why is it that these people always think that their religion (or politics)is the be all to end all... and we'd all want to join their party? Leave the little kids alone. They don't need to be brainwashed.
I was raised a Unitarian, exposed to all the major religions of the world and all the different branches of christianity. Allowed to form our own opinions. My opinion was, I didn't want to be part of any of them. If the day ever comes that I feel the need to return to a church, I'll become a born-again Unitarian. They teach you to think for yourself and question.
If Pin really wants to save some children tell her to hike her life saving ass over to a neigborhood where they are selling crack on the streets and their mother, if she did not desert them, could care less where they are. That's the kid who could use some saving ..... and some snacks!! I dilike selective savers.

This makes me sick. You should go over to that "Pin" person and punch her in the head. My dad made me go to all these scary judgemental Catholic classes when I was little and they screwed me up so bad that, more than 15 years later, I'm still afraid of God. DD, I applaud you for telling Lissa the truth about this organized religious crap. I wish you'd been there to talk some sense into my asshat father.

The founding fathers did NOT declare any religion as the reason America was founded. In fact they were escaping the control of the religion/gov't back in England when they ran away to America. Religion is the reason they left England, "Freedom" of religion was the only thing they would tolerate & the Constitution states so. & Church & gov't were NOT to mingle. Too bad we don't have those very cool & very smart old dudes back here now. They knew what the real deal was. It's eff'd now. Thomas Jefferson disestablished the church in Virginia as it was being supported by the state. Declaring the church as "tyrannical". He wanted the separation of church & state & got it. he once declared himself to be a "sect unto myself". The church of "Me"? LOL! And removed Jesus' miracles from his personal copy of the New Testament, thinking instead of Jesus as a "teacher". He was sooo ahead of his time!

We watched a doc. about St Someone's blood from the 13th century, in a vial in Italy somewhere and the wondrous miracle it presents to modern people because it dries up and flows at certain times of the day or something. We're still not sure how or why this is supposed to matter to the church. Thousands, or millions of people more interested in old blood than trying to better themselves?? I can't relate.
