It's a gloomy Monday, but I'm not complaining. We need the rain BAD! Unfortunately it looks like today is the only day for rain. It did cool off a little bit though thank goodness, not nearly as cool as where you and Miss Tia live though.
We spent the weekend in Savannah which was nice. The weather was great. We had to attend a wedding there. I wanted to get to Bonaventure Cemetery, but didn't have time.
It was DAMN cold here this morning. The furnace check isn't until next week when we get back from DC. I turned on the oven and stood by it for a half an hour. I just had my air on last week. I'm not ready for this cold shit.
We had our furnace cleaning in August cause it was almost $50 cheaper. I am going to be calling in for my first oil fill soon. It is not cold enough to turn the heat on yet but I can tell it will be here soon enough.
I am contemplating whether I am going to decorate for Halloween this year or not. Hmmm
My family went away for a wedding at a resort up north. While we were gone for the reception- maybe 1 1/2 hours, someone broke into my motel room and stole my purse and laptop.
The cop came and looked for fingerprints. He said it happens all the time in the area because we were right by an Indian reservation.
The funny thing about it is that we have our own CSI team going. My brother thinks he knows who it was. They were out on the lake earlier and looked suspicious. They were dressed all in black and weren't fishing. They were throwing rocks at birds instead. My sister found sneaker prints on the deck railings and I took pictures of them.
I told a friend about it and she said her brother has a cabin in the area and there is an old abandoned house by him that every once in awhile, he sees nice stuff in it and it disappears after a few days.
I am calling the cop with all this info this afternoon. I am sure he will think we are nuts and not do anything with the info.
We think they have this place all cased out so they can make an easy entrance and get away. All the outside lights are either missing light bulbs or the light bulbs are unscrewed so that they won't come on. I told the motel about it and they were surprised. The wedding was by the lake and they could have easily watched us all leave for the reception and knew it was their chance to sneak in and get out quickly.
I know I will never get my stuff back but it is fun putting the pieces together and thinking we are top detectives.
Sorry Anon 3:35. That stinks! How did they get into the room? I'm always paranoid of this happening so I try to use the safe if one is available. If not, I hide my pocketbook as best as I can. Sometimes, I'll leave my wallet home and only take my license and one credit card, so if my wallet is stolen, I don't have to worry about calling all the credit card companies to cancel them all. I hope they find whoever did it!
Aww, Peg! A half an hour? Dang. Haven't had to turn our heater on yet, here. Why does it smell so funny in the fall when you start running it again? We've got gas heat...but the same thing went on with electric.
I'm sorry for your losses, anon. That is really low that it happens frequently, and that the police know about it, but no-one does much of anything to stop it. Sounds like you all have more talent going than the police.
It is very, very humid today. At around 10 this morning, I was standing out in the shade of the old coop, sweating, wondering what was wrong with me. Yesterday it rained, the day before that, beautiful. It is weird, back-and-forth fall weather, but at least it's been nice enough, I had my first tomato two days ago! My potatoes are starting to bloom, too! Finally there will be a small harvest, and that is surprising. The pallet compost heap is up and running. My husband would not just help me screw it together, and put some hinges on, he strapped the sides together with metal. I don't think I've ever heard of such a thing, but there it is, and we are putting that chicken poo to work. Last night there was a very large coon watching our older girls from just the other side of the neighbor's fence. It was creepy---the dogs were on it so fast, but of course it was on the other side of the fence. Still no babies. I don't know if the chicks inside the eggs are okay or not, haven't candled since yesterday morning, but today should be hatch day if I counted right. I'm off on call, and contemplating asking for the third of the bereavement days that my hospital gives. I only asked for two, but the benefit is for three. I don't know if I will be able to have the third or not. We have an interim manager, so I don't know how she will feel about it. Andy is sick---he came down with an upper repiratory thing a couple days ago, and has called in sick for the past two. He looks like he was drug through a rathole backwards. Literally. That curly hair is going every which way. Maybe I'll get something major done today, but, I wouldn't go holding my breath. . .
hahaha! I am still running AC! I have to keep it cold. Brrrr cold even. Tia, it helps with the mean-ears to stay cool. For me anyways. In the winter I have to have my office window open to let cold air in or the heat from the furnace makes me dizzy. I hate it, I am such an idiot. I feel like a damn invalid but I get up & go to work everyday & have not missed work in years. I just have to sleep alot & it has to be cold when I am. Make sure you have clean filters in your furnace. I work at a Plumbing & Heating & AC company, so thats the 1st rule for keeping your furnace running well. Change the filter every 3-6 months.Cuts down on allergens too. Busy weekend. My daughter took me to the Broadway production of Mary Poppins last night. It was amazing. Next we want to see "Wicked", can't wait! I baked all day Saturday. My freezer is almost full. I need another one!! 13 days to go and I am gonna have my own little party when its ova! LOL!!!
I'm sweltering - Last heat wave hopefully. It's already 110 and it's only 1PM. Air conditioner broke last month and I figured I would wait until next year to deal with it. hey Valle, thanks for the info on the prescription card! So gald you are feeling well, Miss Tia. Pat, how are you doing?
Warm in WA. I actually had to turn on the AC! It's supposed to be warm all week. "They" say this winter is gonna be one of the coldest, so I'm enjoying the warmth while it lasts.
First day of school today, not bad. Had orientation in the first hour, while the IT's repaired the system, it wouldn't allow anyone to log in. It was alright, short day, which is nice for mondays!
Sarah got BOO"ed LOL at Dancing with the Stars and NO it was not BOO'ing for Jennifer Grey she got the HIGEST score of the eveing, Check out the faces of the people sitting behind SP its as thou they smell something STINKY POO Brsitol the pistol You cant hurry Love that what Mama said ..tho scores she got not even worth it the judges must want her to hang in there ugh
I went out to see if there had been a hatch during the night, and there had not, but I do hear faint peeping coming from one of the two eggs! I am so tickled, though peeping inside an intact shell is not the same as hatched, so I guess I will stay on pins and needles awhile longer.

It's supposed to be around 106° here today. Nighttime is 'tolerable' at best. I'm sick of the heat. Sick.of.it.
Howdy all.

It smells funny because of the stale air getting blown out I think.

Crabbie, I can't think of that song without seeing Celine Doofus emoting the hell out of it and whacking herself with her fist in mock sincerity.

A shooting just broke out at the University of Texas at Austin. He shot himself in the library, but there may be another gunman on campus.
