Alfie ditches school

Three year old Alfie Aldridge decided pre-school wasn't his cup o tea. So, he "managed to give his teachers the slip, scaled a 3ft-high wall, crossed a busy main road and navigated several streets."..and went home to his mommy.

His school didn't even know he was missing. His mom accepted their apology, but, has put Alfie in a new school. Hopefully one that does head counts. Damn, he's cute. Mom's cute too. I love a happy ending.

  1. glad he made it home okay....it shows how smart he is, to not only get out of the school, but to know his way home!

that school needs some serious learning!!

  2. too scary for words, glad he got home ok but what a bunch of incompetents at the pre-school. They are probably going to be put under investigation for that & hopefully any other holes in their processes will be picked up on & fixed too.

  4. he is a cutie, big boy too for 3, no woner he could scale the fence. lol.

Alfie is quite a popular name here, the old fashioned names are all back again, the boy has friends at school called Ernie (Ernest), George & even a Wilfred although everyone uses Fred. I like them.

  5. Really? I don't know a single Alfie. I will be bringing that up with my daughter.

  6. This doesn't surprise me I could loose a 3 year old daily. They're fast and with several others as a distraction. I'm just surprised he didn't find a distraction on the way home.

  9. I had an uncle Alf (my grandfathrs brother) but he's long gone now.

This is an early childhood educators worst nightmare. Here is a article about something that happened in a Toronto suburb. A parent actually brought it to me at school. She wasn't concerned, but she wanted to make sure we saw it. http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1048956--markham-daycare-shut-down-after-toddlers-escape

  11. Damn! At Gabe's daycare, you have to have a swipe card to get in the door.

Noelle, your oldest one is FAST. It was not my fault. LMAO!

  12. Happened to me when I was 5. Walked all the way home at recess because I thought it was the end of the day and did not see my mother. Granted, we lived in a small town, suburb of a bigger one, but it still took 10-15 minutes to walk home. No one notices my missing either and when my mother brought me back, the teacher, at first quite embarrassed, then managed to turn the situation over and blamed my mother for using the school to "park her child". What. The. Fuck...

This was in the early 70s and there were no other options, and I don' think my mother would have considered one anyway. She seemed quite unfazed...

BTW and OT, colonoscopy was a success - they removed a polyp and I am now clean in more ways than one!! Hooray, I was dreading it. And they did give me drugs and knocked me out so I have no recollection of the procedure. Sorry, not the right post to write this but am too happy it is over with.

  13. you were at SCHOOL yet the teacher said your mother was using school to park her child? yeah, WTF?!?!??!

soooooo glad to hear your colonoscopy went well!!! YEAH!!!

  14. Thanks, Tia :)

Yeah, "she parked me at school". The underlying barb was that I would not sit quietly and disturbed the class. Well, if I was that rambunctious (and I don't believe I was...), why did they not notice my absence?!?!

  15. obviously the teacher was grasping for an excuse as she didn't want to accept responsibility and there was no excuse...she should have had the grace to apologize, realize what had happened and see how it could be prevented from happening again....

i can't imagine you being a disruptive kid!
