Elizabeth and Hazel

The photograph that shamed America. THIS is worth reading. Hazel, caught in the middle of shouting "Go back to Africa!" Elizabeth had never been to Africa, she only wanted to go to school.

Later they became friends, sort of. Then the friendship ended. It had to because Hazel never quite figured out what she had done wrong. That's the kind of person people raise when they're narrow minded brain washing ignorant idiots. Sadly, this moment in history wasn't that long ago. I feel sorrier for Hazel than I do Elizabeth. Hazel never had a chance.

  1. I love reading about these situation. That this kind of hate was not only accepted but encouraged. We didnt' have so much of an issue over here but there were problems. Being in a mixed marriage it just never registers to me that there are people out there who don't approve. It's their issue not mine but not so long ago it would have cost us very dear.

There is a BBC2 program I am watching at the moment called Mixed Britannia that you would probably enjoy, if you can get it on bbc iplayer or youtube then def check it out. charts the history of mixed marriages in the UK going back a couple of centuries & one of the episodes touches on how segregation came about in the US too.

  2. I have seen a potential guest at a restaurant decline to be seated in the same dinning room with a black family. Made me sick I told them and hour an a half wait. They left which was my intention. The black woman was a superintend of a big school district. Doesn't matter at all what she does I just found it ironic. Redneck Ass.

Jebus that is just mental, good for you for getting rid of them, saw similar in Namibia but then you sort of expect ignorance there.

  4. I had no idea how alive racism was until I moved to the south. Around here, people think they're being real progressive when they call black people "colored". Sigh.

  5. Jebus. Rednecks still use the N word here and they see nothing wrong. It's so weird here.
