Open Post

It's rainy and cold here, but, I'm not complaining. We need the rain, the garden dirt was very dry yesterday and all the little baby seedlings looked sad. I finally got the veg garden done and most of the flower beds too. I put in a few new ones, enough to make the lawn mower guy pissed off. Too bad. It's like a maze out there now. Eventually, they'll all be joined and all I'll have is grass paths without much lawn at all. I got some new shrubs too. I don't really have much space left to plant them without coming inward towards what is now lawn. So, that vision I had of the yard years ago is starting to become real. Removing all that turf has been the hard part, but, six feet there and six feet here each year, well, eventually you start to see real progress. I think it's going to be really pretty this year. I enjoy the way it all changes. It never looks exactly like I planned, it just kind of does it's own thing, surprising me. Like, the plants decide where they'll grow, so I now have tall perennial beds where I used to have short annual beds. Then I have to dig new beds for my favorite annuals. The garden moves and changes shape and size. Every year I have to look at it and change my perceptions based on what nature does while I'm not looking. That's part of the fun and challenge though.

My new lawn mower has disappeared. For awhile an old one took it's place. I have no idea what happened. I just shrugged and used the old one, it worked fine. Not as good as the original one I 'lost' but, it was okay. I just use it to trim around my beds and let the lawn dude mow the bulk of it. But, now the old one is gone too. I give up. I think the old lady has lost her marbles and the only thing she can control is goofy stuff. It's irritating, but, not worth high blood pressure. The next mower will be locked down with a bike lock. I doubt that will stop her, but, it's all I can come up with. I found some of my pruners and saws on her yard sale porch and I stole them back. Now I can busy myself with cutting back the Forsythia and Butterfly bushes, which are out of hand. And I can remove all the Walnut trees that come up. Those things will grow 6-12 feet in a year. If I don't get them, it will be too late and I'll have a forest of Walnut trees. The Maples are the same way, but, I selectively cut them. I now have 15 maturing Maples in a row at the back fence where my mom cut every thing down a couple of years ago. They look really pretty and are big enough to give shade this year. Which, of course, means I can make a new shade garden beneath them. I'm pulling the rag weed and turning the soil so it will be ready in August when the Hostas will be free or almost free. That will make a nice foundation. But, the work seems to go on forever. But, once you get something like that finished it seems to watch itself and you can go on to the next spot. You know what I mean?

What are you up to?

DHS sent Lissa back to her mother yesterday, after the last day of school. I asked them not to. I asked them to let her spend the Summer here and see how her mom did until the school term starts again, but, they're all about reunification. It was sad and the house seems empty without her. She still gets to spend weekends here though.

dafuq?! seriously, what is their problem? how many times are they going to send her back??? grrrrrr.......

it was like fall here yesterday.....i stayed in and cross stitched, which i think i'll also do today as it's a little warmer than yesterday, though still chilly....

i've got some areas of my yard cleared but still have the side yard to 'find'....still working on the back part.....we finally got some rain the other day, had a hard frost last night but it's suppose to be back to the 80s mid-week....

Strange stuff happening in my house lately! lol
It's for sale and so we have open houses all of the time, but the realtor calls me up whenever someone comes in because I live alone, a young woman, and definitely don't want random people just coming in. So after last Sunday's open house I noticed some food, little trinkets, drinks were gone or moved around. I assumed it was the open house people so just let it go. Three days later no one had been in my house and I realize two more diet bars I eat are gone, a few drinks, and some trinkets now missing!
Nothing big, and whomever is taking the nutrisystem bars...more power to them! lol...but a little mind boggling when you live by yourself and know for sure no one has been around!
Oh! And I get to meet my boyfriend's children for the first time today. Exciting!

Sorry for the random post...just always enjoy reading everyone else's comments and felt like adding. Enjoy your weekend everyone! :)

what.the.fuck. DHS sent Lissa back to that fuck up. I hope it goes well for Lissa's sake but I have a feeling she will be back to you soon.

Hey, did you hear, the pope says all us non believers can go to heaven if we are good people, so that's something to shove up the asses of the ones who claim we will burn in hell. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/pope-francis-atheists-heaven-article-1.1354151

cheers pontiff, not that I wanted your validation or believe in your heaven but it might, just maybe, shut the fuck up some of your more stupid followers when they try to shove their reasons for believing down my throat. "pope highfive"

I was going to say, how stupid are these people at DHS? But, we already know the answer to that question.

They just have to keep screwing with little kids heads, over & over. Did Gabe have to go back to Methmommy too?

I envy your energy. Wish I had the passion for my yard that I used to.

I hope Lissa has the best experience possible with her mom. But jeez, how frustrating. At the very least that schedule should be reversed.

Have a nice memorial day everybody--

I have a heartfelt feeling that DHS's plan won't pan out and Lissa will be back with you for the majority of summer. I love how your garden constantly morphs and like all good artists, I think the image you envision should change a bit when it becomes real. I bet the garden will not only look gorgeous, but smell wonderful, too.

Oh Pat, that is so sad. How did Lis feel about that? My word, how many times will the pull that child apart? May I ask what her mother's criteria is for getting to keep her and Gabe? I certainly hope a weekly or random drug check. Does Lissa's choice go into account at all this time? So if she gets her for the summer, she must not have a job. This just makes me ill.

Megan, that is disturbing. You need to change your locks and set up cameras if possible. Someone is in your house! That's scary.

Lissa loves her mom, but, she was nervous about moving back with her. I hope it works out, but, now they live in a town too far for me to check on them. All I can do is be here just in case. No, Gabe's father will not give him back on DHS orders. He's fighting for full custody and now there are abuse charges against him. Lissa and I have both been interviewed in the case. It sucks. It's a big mess.

oh so she pulled the 'his dad abuses him card'??? i hope he's fully exonerated, they finally get their heads out of their asses and the do right FOR THE CHILDREN and terminate her parental rights and just allow HER visitation---supervised....i'm sure she loves her kids, but she's messed up and appears to never be able to accept she has problems......
