HERE is some shit about a restaurant that's supposedly kid friendly, but, they took this pic and made a big stink about these parent wheeling a crib up to a table. Well, duhh. It's not a crib anyway, it's a playpen and I doubt people take their kid for a stroll in that awkward thing. Common sense tells me they probably just bought it somewhere and had to get it home somehow. If you live in the city with no car, wtf else would you do? It's not like you'd hire a moving van for that. So, they stopped for some food and drinks. They were OUTSIDE, cripes, it's not like they pushed the kid and his pen inside the restaurant and bellied him up to the bar. He's safe, he's happy and he's not being a pain in the ass. What's the problem here? There's plenty of room there. They aren't blocking anything. Tell those yuppie cocksucker to turn that bike wheel the right way. They don't own every hipster joint in town anyway.
I just don't understand why people have to bitch about nothing. I've waited on enough parents with kids to tell you about the ones who are a serious pain in the ass. This is nothing. Wait until they let him puke or take a dump on the table and expect you to clean it up. With no tip. Then you can bitch. Another restaurant on there was stunned, stunned I tell ya, when some kids made a sand castle on their sand floor. They treated the place like it was a beach. You have a sand floor! And you allow kids in. WTF did you expect? Dim bulbs.
I think this bitching about dining with kids has gone as far as it should. Restaurants have the right to ban kids. Parents have the right to dine out with their kids where it's permitted. Everyone needs some common sense now, because this 'I hate kids in restaurants' thing has gone too far. It's not funny and bizarre stories anymore. It's OMG I saw a kid in a stroller!!! So? Fuck off.
It's the kiddies who scream with those healthy set of lungs that annoy me. Their parents never bother to discipline or try to shut up their little darlings. I know that everyone's kid is the best on earth, but when you don't have kids, they're just loud! I'd rather sit with a smoker than with a screaming child.
ReplyDeleteParents can suck no doubt, but, kids get a bad rap these days. They don't always deserve it just for being kids.
ReplyDeleteJust when I thought I could not bear parental units anymore, I came across a website, STFUparents, that leaves me seriously laughing out loud. The units I know are so overbearing that I was avoiding them and their kids so I wasn't in trouble for some slight. I hated to have no interaction with the kids, as I enjoy most of them, actually.
ReplyDeletei sent you a link pat! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree; there is no reason to bitch and moan - we have loads of CHOICES to appease everyone. I think it goes beyond this sometime; at least where I live, there is this sense of entitlement that some hipster and yuppy PARENTS constantly display. Their elitist behavior sends the message that they are far more superior and important than those of us who are child-free by choice. I guess that is just bad manners, overall. The kids are innocent, tho, and I feel sorry for them. Hopefully they will grow up without the attitude displayed by their folks.
ReplyDeleteI don't see anything wrong with what they did. They weren't blocking the door as I could see. They weren't inside with a yelling kid. It seemed like a win-win situation. But I have to admit, if I'm in a restaurant with a screaming kid that continues to scream and the parents don't do anything to try to calm him/her, I get a little pissed.
ReplyDeleteI did the gastro today and everything was okay. I'm free for 10 yrs. I had decided that I was never going to drink that crap again. I also had a liquid diet for 2 1/2 days. I hope I never see jello again. I gag just thinking about it!
Jane, I'm so happy you're done with that and back. It must be a relief. I agree about the jello. I was on a liquid diet for 8 days after my last surgery. It was all sugar and they ignored the fact that I have diabetes. I hate sweet stuff most of the time. Jello, ice cream, juice, popsickles, frozen yogurt..all on the same tray three times a day. I used to hit the morphiene button just so I didn't have too look at that shit anymore. I kissed the first nurse who brought me coffee and toast.
ReplyDeleteMary, I just get tired of people posting that children in public are horrible when they're just ordinary kids. I hate encounters with screaming brats and I want to punch the parents who let them run wild. But, these days it's not PC to take a kid anywhere. OMG, a stroller in a restaurant! It's like being a baby is against the law.
ReplyDeletetotally oatally off topic....but here's my vintage ad's community's notice about our gay equality day monday---AKA 'PUTIN SUCKS DAY'....
ReplyDeletemy notice here and there's a couple links to news stories about the laws russia has passed against gays, americans who wish those laws could be passed HERE, the olympics not really being concerned, and of course putin's email addy if you wanted to send him an email! :)
I agree, kids should be able to be kids. It is some, NOT All, parents who are the problem here. I waited tables (and bar tended) during my college days to pay for the expensive art supplies, and I would have welcomed a rolling playpen in my station. Less stress and mess and the kid is safe and not running around. NO fear of vomit or crap on the carpet! Haha
ReplyDeleteMiss Tia, you went to a lot of work there. I did not know about Russia until you told me. The Olympic should not be held in a place where being gay is illegal.
ReplyDeleteno, the olympics should not be there! and for those companies who ban discrimination in their companies to support the olympics in a country that discriminates like that? that's beyond discrimination actually!
ReplyDeleteLJ is owned by a russian company and one of the reasons the site goes down quite often is many political opponents to the putin regime have blogs that are very popular.....when there are political problems in russia, major protests, LJ will be ordered taken offline...they have servers in the US in addition to russia, but they take it all down...
i queried the vintage ads members before we did this as it could get us kicked off lj, but every one said go for it as it is a human rights issue....most of us have switched over to dreamwidth anyway....
and (not enough coffee yet)....where is the international outrage from other COUNTRIES?? especially the united states??? or even the UK where gay marriages i think are legal nationwide now....there should be worldwide outrage that russia has basically outlawed being gay or even discussing 'gay'!! and if you're a gay tourist? detained 14 days then deported.....and i'm sure you wouldn't be detained for 14 days at moscow disney world!
