A woman celebrating her 100th birthday got her wish. With the help of an Ohio University she was able to do a little yard work. You can go HERE to read it and see her cute pic. She sure doesn't look 100 and it was probably hard work and ethics that kept her that way. She just wanted to smell fresh mown grass again. That's one of the best smells in the world and someone smart should make a perfume out of it.
I absolutely loved that photo of her wrinkled, age spotted old hand holding that little trowel, it says it all. I totally get her. Hell, I'm 40 years her junior and I feel the same way. I miss the hail out of the old days when I could fire up my chainsaw, trim my trees, make a pile of firewood for the stove, mow several acres, torch the burn pile and still have time to clear a couple of new beds and plant them. Those were the good old days and I miss them. Some people dearly love physical labor and miss it when time kicks their ass. It's hard to accept.
I couldn't help but giggle at that red clover type plant they gave her though. She was probably too polite to say what she was thinking..'WTF is this shit, that's the shit I dug out of my Hosta's and burned.' Kids today have no sense. Yeah, I'm laughing. Because it's true, but, also, because I'm so sore I can hardly move this morning. The old lady nearly worked me to death yesterday. Nothing in this life is free. But, I was also helping someone else (not her) and I'll blog about it later. Oh, I also passed on some hard work to the kid and she took it well. I worked her butt off yesterday. You would have been proud of me. No sympathy! Work is good!!
