Just a quick update

Thanks to all of you, it means so much that you still read and talk to me here, even though my daily blog skills are gone. I am alive and so far, so good. You and I were right, it is Diabetic Neurpothy (spelling sucks, sorry). The nerves and blood vessels in my foot and leg are being destroyed by Diabetes. It sucks because I am on the lower end of the disease, I take my meds for eating and for the nerves, I eat mostly right and have even started vaping over smoking, but, it still got me. It is an evil and mean disease that kills in a horrible way. I have started a new med regimin meant to stave it off and possibly reverse the damage. I think we all know that last part is a stretch. But, hey, they did not stick me in a hospital bed and I am thankful to be home fighting with my lazy, ungrateul kid that I love to pieces and am catching up on some weird Netflix shit. If you have viewing suggestions, please..go ahead. I watch about anything.

Feelin' almost human, I will try a real post in the morning, my friends.

  2. Sorry I've been very distant lately. I'm turning into a Netflix couch potato recluse. Really enjoyed binging on Love. Just fun and easy and while love is not a part of my life anymore, it's fun watching people in their early 30's freaking out about it. You'll like it. Refreshing after House of Cards, that's for sure. I'm sorry to hear that the diabeties is getting the better of you. I hope the new meds bring some improvement. Big hugs.

  3. You can stop it and even reverse it. You can do anything. I'm sure of it.

  4. Who gets Alyssa the pan girl, when you croak?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Careful, obnoxious anon. She knows stuff. Spells and stuff. With a little incantation and the snap of a finger she might turn you into a toad. Then you'll be the one croakin'.

Border Collie, there are days I think I might love you. Even if it makes me sound like a pan girl to say it (sorta) out loud. It's raining. I'm going to erect some boards near the puddles on which to proclaim my love, lol, like yard-stake political placards, only better.

    Disher, hang in there.

  6. I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties. Check out "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitt". It's cute.

It's entertaining and informative also real. Hope you feel better soon Pat. Take care.

  8. I am so impressed that you have given up smoking for vaping. That is huge. I hope it helps your diabetic status. I knew what it was when you described the symptoms, but I just hoped it would be reversible. I hope that the new medications and the changes you have made will really help you regain some circulation and feeling in that foot.
As far as viewing suggestions, I am really no-one to make suggestions, as my tastes run to things like Gilligan's Island. As usual, I will just jump in head first, though. As far as movies that I have here, at home, I like the whole Terminator series, The Mary Hartman series, The X Files, including the new ones, the first new Mummy movie, Sense and Sensibility, The entire Call the Midwife series, The Office, Office Space, Guardians of the Galaxy, the original Tremors, Arachnaphobia, Expedition Unknown, The Silence of the Lambs, The Pioneer Woman, America Unearthed, Any of the Transformers movies, Battleship, The Hobbit trilogy, Lord of the Rings, Finding Bigfoot, any episodes, and People's court with Marilyn Milian (I think she has a heart, and I love it when she uses Spanish expressions and explains them.) I consider this list mostly useless, as I don't think it's really your taste, but I could be wrong, so there you have it.
I hope you heal well and quickly. My wishes for you are that your stress decreases, so you can heal better.

  11. Pat, I'm so worried about you. But you have been through so much and have made it, I know you will work through this and will fight it all the way. I am sending every bit of positive energy I have to you. Like Border said, if it can be done, you can do it. Are we silly to think that? Maybe, but you are a fighter. So keep on fighting! We are with you.

Christina, what an eclectic choice of viewing. I see many things on that list that I like. I really like any mystery or suspense. Or if I'm in that kind of a mood, any Monty Python. (ratfish)

  12. Hope your pain decreases and you feel better.
    I've been recovering from an illness and binging on Netflix/Amazon/iTunes lately. Here's what I've watched to pass the time;
    The Killing
    House of Cards
    Love
    Ray Donovan
    The Affair
    Poldark
    Transparency
    Cooked
    Master of None
Chelsea Does ( I dislike her but I liked these shows on hot topics on Netflix)
    Cuckoo

I am wearing a shirt that says Dogton Abbey on it. I will miss Downton.
When is Call the Midwife back? I am anxious for the thalidomide to play out. I hate to be kept hanging for a year.

  18. I think it will be back sometime this spring, if I remember right. So, it can't be that far off. I check the schedule every few days. I am still rewatching the Christmas special periodically. I absolutely love that show.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks Christina, and do you know where Manor House can be viewed. I looked and it isn't on netflilx and doesn't show up on tv guide.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I hope you will feel better soon, Pat.

Manor House is available on Amazon Prime if you are a subscriber.

I also found episodes 2-6 on youtube. For some reason, episode 1 is not available there.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Several of the PBS house series are on youtube. Just search "PBS house series" and you'll find Colonial House, Frontier House, Texas Ranch House, The 1900 House, 1940s House, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thank you. I do have Amazon Prime although I only seem to get it on the tv I hardly ever watch. I guess I'll have to call the TV manufacturer and have them tell me how it can appear on my most watched tv. I hate the tech calls, but need to do it. Appreciate it CatsPaw.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Border, is your less-watched TV a "smart TV"? It may receive Amazon Prime because it was able to download an app like that directly.

If your most-watched TV is not a smart TV, it probably needs an Amazon Fire or Amazon Fire Stick or a Roku or other streaming device to receive it.

My TVs are not "smart" so I bought a Fire Stick for about $40 and it works great. (You must have wi-fi.) I pull in my Netflix connection with it as well, and I'm trying out Sling TV right now. I can move the stick from one TV to the other easily if I want it in the other room.

I'm far from expert on this stuff, but that may be why you can receive Prime on one TV and not the other.

  26. We have had so much rain and some places have been flooded for a few days now. Graveyards are in trouble because vaults are starting to float. We usually see this after a hurricane. It's really weird to see where the vaults end up when the water goes down. The dead aren't walking but they are moving. Probably looking for a dry spot.

I have a couple of items to add to your viewing list, but again, you know how my taste runs. (Giant roll of eyes )
All of the sudden I can't precisely remember any of their names. Oh, well, here goes. . .
Either Finding Hitler or the Hunt for Hitler. It's based on documents released according to the freedom of information act. Thereare numerous mentions of the CIA tracking Hitler ' s whereabouts after the war, when he was supposedly dead.
    Treasure of Oak Island
Pirate Treasure. I am sorry that I really don't remember the name of that one. I think it is Captain Kidd's pirate vessel that they have found the wreckage of,where he scuttled it, literally in harbor, a stone's throw from shore.
I hope you will be feeling better soon, Pat.

  33. Hi Pat,

Hope you are doing well and taking care of yourself. I was on the road and visiting people I had not seen since I left the last time I left. I miss home and I'm thinking about staying for good and saying good bye to the chaos in my life every time I leave and have to reconnect. I am a loner by nature but now I feel that my lifestyle creates an emotional space with people I care about that if I don't nurture now; it will stay empty forever.

I watched "Buck" on netflix and liked the story. Refreshing to see a person so comfortable with themselves.

Hi kiki, I have been eating shortbread (martha stewart's recipe) every day. So easy to make and delicious. Hi Jane!!.

  37. I was so impressed with the Hunt for Hitler show. They turned over rocks (literally) that had not been touched in years. I wish this could have been done years ago when the people who knew what was what were still alive. But I know that's why there was a time limit put on the freedom of information act. But think of all the history that was lost. That series just opened up so many "what ifs". I hope they show it as a marathon soon. I will be glued to the tv.

Christina, I see where we have pretty much the same likes in viewing. I'm also an Oak Island fan. Do you think they will ever find the bottom?

Jarhead, are you making sounds of domestication? You seem to be the type of person who as long as your body holds out, will be "overly" active. Could you settle down in one place?

Pat, I've been thinking of things to watch lately because you asked and people have come up with some really good picks. I always find when I'm in a down mood that anything by Mel Brooks (even the bad ones) will make me laugh. Blazing Saddles will always be my favorite. (And again---Monty Python!)

Spring is definitely here. After spending so much time outside yesterday, I woke up with huge swollen eyes. Yes, with Spring comes pollen! I look like something from Face Off.

  39. Anyone voting for Trump doesn't have a brain cell working and is a total moron. Why don't we just elect one of the Kardashians? Their "business sense" seems to be just as good if not better than Donald Drumpf. At least they haven't filed for bankruptcy 4x. But his ideas are really big and really good. Give me a fucking break. Yeah let's all vote for Deumpf because he's tough and macho. Please don't inflict this little dick'd, Hitler wannabe on this country. We are already the laughing stock of the world for even allowing this goon in the race. This country is hopelessly stupid.

  41. Hi,

    Pat,

That was not me making the Trump comment by the way. I am on the record making the point that I think all politicians suck and that any extremist view on either side of the spectrum is nothing more than a ploy to suck money from the populous. I would never endorse a politician or pretend to know what is best for anyone based on my own views.

    Jane,
I do feel that I need to stay home and heal. But yes, I can't stay still in one place.

  42. Besides that "divine" is not a word I would use.

    Trump is a clown.

Clinton is a lying, insincere, entitled and completely sold out puppet of any paid interest.

    Hi jarhead.
Shortbread sounds pretty good to me. I like Marthas recipe she puts all butter into it.
it's good that you make it yourself. Also it gives you a change from banana bread.
Both are my favourites with a cup of orange pekoe tea.

    Hi Jane

  50. ISIS can not be wiped out by force. By the time an ISIS fighter gets to the battlefield he is already a jihadist at an operational level. His radicalization starts at the mosque or the madraza. The change has to start from within their own religion and that is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

In Iraq it was impossible for a Sunni to work with a Shiite without the permanent possibility of conflict leading to violence. Theocracies are totalitarian and don't allow for individual thought or self-interpretation, so they are committed to follow orders from their religious elders who are only interested in keeping power in their centralized positions.

Women have a subordinate role just barely above goat or donkey and their opinion means absolutely nothing to a man. That is a fact. What kind of society can thrive peacefully with that view?. Hence the chaos and violence that has always dominated the Middle East.

We are in a struggle that will last generations. They are doomed to keep living in a place where the only good thing is the food.

  53. My current two favourite things: Sushi and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
The Manilla blow job story is a rerun. Clearly I've been around too long.
If Homeland has taught me nothing it's that jihadists are committed to the generational fight in perpetuity. They might win because of that.
Humans killing humans over make believe gods on land that was here billions of years before we ever started polluting it and will probably recover and carry on millions of years after we destroy ourselves. That's all this boils down to. Where is the sense in it?

  54. I thought of another movie I liked. Has anyone ever seen the Boys from Brazil? No, Crabbie, it's not a gay flick. It's an old Gregory Peck movie about the Nazi's trying to rebuild the power of the Third Reich. The Hunt for Hitler made me think of this.

Also, who watched DWTS with Nyle Dimarco? The dude is totally deaf and he was great. I was totally blown away. He was also the winner of one of the modeling shows. Quit a bit of eye candy for the ladies.

Kiki, I haven't been watching the Robinsons too much lately. It looked like every time I turned it on, it was all reruns. But I do know about the Jeb baby. Jeb is finally starting to come out of his shell.

I had a WONDERFUL day today. This morning I had my taxes done and in the afternoon I had a hearing test. Seems I'm loosing my hearing in my left ear. Don't know why yet---have to schedule a MRI.

    Hang in there Pat!

  55. Sorry---I'm losing my hearing, not loosing. Damn spell check where is it when you need it.

  56. Hi Frimmy,

Grand Budapest is a great movie, Everyone in it and the originality of the story was fun to watch. The Manila experience may be dated, but then; so am I. Amazingly though, she may still be working there.
If our politicians were as committed to fighting jihadists as our service members are, this fight would be over much sooner. We could have gotten Osama Bin Laden in as little as 10 days after arriving in Afghanistan, but Civilian Authority pressured our Military Command to "put an Afghan face" on the capture. He slipped through the mountain pass and the rest is history.

    Hi Jane,

I remember watching Boys from Brazil with my Dad a long time ago. Glad you are doing well.

  60. Finally got onto Mom's computer. This is Casey. I am sorry to tell everyone this but my Mom was admitted into a facility. Lissa was staying with her mom for several days and when she was dropped home, Lissa found her in a very bad state. She had been in so much pain, for so long and had other private issues she was facing. I knew of some but not all. She has been hallucinating and on heavy sedation. Her meds were being overused according to her toxicology reports. We are not sure at this time of any recovery.

I am sure Mom would want you all to know why she isn't blogging. She was much sicker than any of us thought. I know you were all a comfort to her.

I am discussing with Allyssa's mother and Gabe's parents about where Allyssa should live. We have all had concerns with my mom's ability to parent a strong kid like Allyssa. Dan and I have discussed what is in her best interests.

We are going to allow the blog to stay up for another week for all of you to say by, share your stories but we are going to shut the blog down.

Thank you for being there for my mom. I know it has been a comfort to her.

You, Lissa, and all your family have been like friends for over a decade and I have truly enjoyed reading Pats blogs and stories about all her friends and family as well as all the trails and tribulations. I know that Pat has had a difficult and challenging life and she came through strong with a unique instinct for sifting bullshit from reality and calling things for what they really are. I'm going to miss excitedly clicking onto my Dirty Disher Icon, hoping to read more instalments about your lives or Pat's take on current affairs. I've been worried about Pat's health for some time now but just hoped that her strength of mind and willpower would see her through. I hope that you and your family and especially Lis will be alright and take comfort in the awesome genes that you inhereted from Pat and go on to have strong and happy lives. Also to everyone who reads Dirty Disher and through doing so have also become friends, I'm really going to miss you. This is a really sad blow.

  87. Casey, I am so sorry. This has got to be a really tough time for your whole family. Along with everyone else, I really do appreciate your taking the time to let us know what is going on. As for the decisions you need to make, I hope you find a clear path that you are comfortable with.
Pat's blog is the one place that I have checked multiple times every day for years. Her support and kind words helped me through some very tough times. She is knowledgeable, has a way with words, and her life story is so interesting. It has been a privilege to hang out here.
Like Jane, I have started to post something several times this afternoon, and couldn't find the heart or words. I've been so worried about Pat lately. This is devastating. I hope she is able to recover and have some quality of life again. I love her and consider her a special friend. I am hoping that you can communicate to her that we all love her and wish her well.
I also understand the reasons for shutting down the blog, but am going to miss so many people here terribly. I consider many here to be my friends and hate the thought of losing track of any of you. I want to leave my email, but am too chicken today. Maybe tomorrow.
This has been a truly sad day. Pat, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

  89. Just a suggestion....maybe this small community could agree to meet in a chatroom such as WireClub or KissChat where you can create a private passworded room of your own for exchanging email addresses, remaining in touch, etc.

I'm not entirely convinced this isn't just more DD-Drama. But that's neither here nor there. If it's true and not just another carnie prank, I certainly wish the best for little Alyssa.

  91. I'm really very sad to read about this. I don't comment very often but I read frequently. I remember when all the blogging started because of freaking Kate Gosselin. I first read Pat's comments on Moon's site. It will be very strange not seeing her blog anymore. I wish her healing and health.

And I sincerely wish the ignorant troll that comes on at a time like this to spout her crap would move to a planet far, far away.

  92. Casey and Pat- I am sending positive thoughts into the universe for you guys. I've been reading here for years as kind of a lurker, i'm very upset to hear about your mother. She is a wonderful woman with a tremendous personality. I am very hopeful she will pull through this awful time. I hope Alyssa is staying strong. Such a beautiful girl, I know this has to be tough on her.

  93. I love your mom Casey,
I hope he's comfortable. We are all pulling for her, she's an extraordinary woman.

  94. Sad to see this coming to an end. Personally, it was cathartic for me personally to express some feelings anonymously since the days of Nick Hogan and the crash that hurt another Marine (Joh Graziano), and Army Mom's loss of her brave son in Afghanistan. I wish everyone here the best and hope to receive good news about Pat and her family.

Kiki and Jane, I sent you all an email. My address is still skunkalpha@gmail.com and welcome l Frimmy, cut on the diagonal, or anyone else who stayed on the sidelines to contact me with whichever blog you are posting in now.

Either way, Pat I hope you are comfortable and resting. I thank you for the opportunity you gave me to express my opinions here freely and without judgement. I will miss your wit and laconic sarcasm, as well as the motherly care you took to nurture this website. I hope you can feel the love from everyone and know you have a place in many people's hearts. Thanks Casey, I also wish you can move forward knowing a lot of people hope the best for you and your family.

  95. Casey ~
Your mom on many a day was my life saver. Strong, wonderful & kind are just a few words to describe her. I found refuge here. Didn't comment all to often but I certainly knew most and rooted for each of you. I send you strength, Casey as you navigate these waters and I am sending to Pat much love and good vibes. Hang in there mama and know you are loved ~
This news has made me so sad
    Thank you Pat xo

  96. Please remember, humans are incredibly resilient.
This really hard part for me is that Pat's been in pain, my heart aches because of that.
Let's not count her out yet, please?
2016 is proving to be a motherfucker.

  97. Jane & jarhead I sent you both emails.

I'm finding it difficult to even fathom that this blog is going to close next week.
I feel so sad for pat and Casey & especially lissa.
I've been reading pats blog since her earlier previous" lambs quarter " blog.
I found pat via bohemian moons blog over a decade ago.
I haven't been able to get in touch with moon yet but will keep trying to let her know about pats turn.
I'm sure moon would like to know. She 's a friend to Pat. Has been over the years.

I will miss your mom and her posting and photos and her awesome stories.

Christina i too want to find out what you'll be doing with the holes in your yard. Just like Jane.
Also like to read about your chickens

I love the picture at the top of the header ( pats raccoon & pumpkins ).
One of my favorite posts were when pat got a baby raccoon to hand raise.
The photos of the lil guy were so sweet.
Loved reading about her adventures atvtag sales and garage sale finds.
I disliked the way her mom tuwella treated her and also her aunt bitch face always wanting to go to the dollar store.
So many times I've logged on to DDs blog and found a laugh or two. Such a wonderful meeting place.
I will keep checking in everyday until it's still here.
Thank you for reading my post.

    Kiki :)

  98. Casey-

I, too, found Pat's blog during the Gosselin online drama. It's the only one from that time that I still follow, although this is the first time I've commented. Your mom is a wonderful writer and I've always enjoyed her stories. I loved all the pictures she used to post (on her other blog?) of her garden. It was so wild, random, bountiful, and beautiful; full of surprizes and secrets (like Pat herself, perhaps). Loved the blue scarecrow! Your mom is very creative and has her own, unique, style with her decorations. I love her critter pictures as well. She loves animals and has been a lifesaver to so many over the years.
I was shocked and disturbed when she exposed that psychotic troll last year. I had no idea! There are truly evil people in this world, unfortunately. I'm sorry she had to go through all that. A similar thing happend to me several months later. It's devastating to be betrayed to that extent.
I'm very distressed by your phrase "not sure at this time of any recovery". Even though I've only lurked, never commented, I feel like she was a friend in a way. Please let her know she has touched other people as well as her regular commenters. I'm sure I'm not the only lurker who loved it here.
I'm so sorry this has happened to Pat, you, Lis, everyone. I am burning inscense and sending positive, healing vibes your way. I'm also drinking beer and cursing like a motherfucker.
I wish you would keep the blog up and just turn off comments. But I completely understand why you will shut it down. Please give us an update on your mom before you do?

    Sophie

  101. I told you guys that deranged slag Miss Tia was behind all of this. Is there nobody out there who can put a stop to her depraved whoring?

    ReplyDelete
  102. I am so relieved that Pat is okay!!!!!
Tia is a shit bag. We all know that. I am surprised that she would stoop this low, though. I guess that when time weighs heavily on your hands, and you are a deranged nut job, who doesn't know how to do anything of any worth, this makes sense. Why do anything useful, when you can mess around with people who don't respect you in the first place? If anyone belongs in a facility, it is her. If she does stuff like this often enough, she will find herself in a padded cell somewhere. The crazy will leak out where other people can actually see it, and she will be put away for a long time. At this point she is acting like an asshat here, and playing an upstanding person on D listed. Almost breaking her arm, patting herself on the back for her cleverness. I want to put a link there to her craziness here. Show them who they are snuggling up with.
Fuck Tia with an overgrown zucchini.
    Christina

  103. I don't know if you should automatically blame Tia. I don't understanding why Pat didn't come in on this post when she realized Casey J had been impersonated.

  104. Angie is showing a lot of wisdom. Where the hell is Pat? And why is she not addressing this insane situation? Seems very unfair to all her loyal posters who genuinely felt pain in hearing of her situation. Something smells extremely fishy here. I wish Pat would say something.

  105. DD blogged on the day her son died, so when has she ever been "in too much pain" to rabble comment some blog drama?
