Snow, snow and more snow

Well, well, look at that. I haven't been out yet, that's the view standing inside my door, which I had a helluva time getting open. The National Weather Service calls this a Monster Storm! The Midwest has been blasted and it's heading East, so all of you on the East coast, batton down and bundle up. It's cold. They say we got 12 inches and 15 foot drifts and advised us not to go anywhere. Stay home. They don't have to tell me twice. But, I think this area got a lot more than 12 inches because I cleaned nearly a foot of snow off that birdbath yesterday. Well, it's a little exciting and the city workers will have something to do. And tales to tell. There's no sign of a snow plow here yet, we aren't high priority. But, as of 30 minutes ago, the cable is working. So is everything else. You can't beat that. No work or school today for almost everyone...yay! As soon as I get enough coffee in me I'll go shovel a spot on the concrete for the poor birds and feed them. The cats won't bother them today, that's for sure. Unless they can hold their breath for a long time. Heh. It should be interesting to see how long it takes this little town to get up and running again..we really got hit hard. And the sky looks like it could dump some more. I feel a little like Laura Ingles Wilder today. Pa, it done drifted the door shut!

we had rain last night....rain rain rain.....little sleet tossed in...now it's 52 degrees and we have winds up to 60mph!

THEY say it will get down to 20 degrees tonight and we will get some snow....

i'd rather have snow than rain!

as long as i have rations and don't need to be anywhere, i don't mind blizzards....

Wow that's a lot of snow! When everyone you love is safe, your power is on and your kitchen is stocked...there's nothing better than a snow day.

I love the kind of quiet there is when it snows like that. Everything annoying seems muffled.

As long as everything works, I'm a cozy camper. That drift in front of the door is 4 feet high. And I can see massive drifts out there too. There was snow in the house, by the door. Man, you can not believe how quiet it is here. I've never heard total silence in Guntown before.

Frimmy, you and I were posting at the same time..yeah, the unearthly quiet. I love it.

The closest we come in So Cal is rain day. Like on Monday when it rained all day long and its safer to stay off the road because no one knows how to really drive in the rain. Everyone panics and hydroplanes. Nope hunkered down with little girl, baked cookies, and only ventured out to drive 2 blocks to and from my older girls school. Anytime the temp dips down below 60 degrees, everyone drags out their heavy coats, hats, gloves and boots. When else can we wear them?

It's funny you mentioned Laura Ingalls Wilder, I was thinking the very same thing when I looked outside this morning! Up here in northwest Illinois, we have lots of snow and some hellacious winds.

Holy snowman! Looks like you guys got nailed! Take it easy moving all that. Now there's a workout!

I thought we were only expecting 2" and I know we have at least 3 down already so I checked the NWS and NOW we are expecting between 4-8" It's coming down hard, fast and fine. YIPPEE! Maybe we'll get some local ski & snowboard fun in this weekend!

I hear a big engine. Maybe someone is digging us out?

It is pretty, but, wow, this is bigger than I thought. 12 inches my ass.

I think you have gotten more than us here in southern Minnesota!! We probably have got like 5 inches of snow and its still blowing outside. I was just outside shovelling and its cold!!! I didnt go to work today cos of this snow storm and most of the schools are closed around here too.

Stay warm, Deb. I think I underestimated this. There is no way I can dig out with a shovel.

Things are looking up ladies. Storm is over in northern Colorado and the sun is shining this morning but it's colder than a withches titty. -8. DD, it's hard to dig out when there's this much quantity. There's no place to put it!

Still 85 and sunny in So. FLA. I'll be heading up to NJ for Christmas next week. Maybe there will be a beautiful Christmas snow storm there. Wouldn't that make Christmas a little more special!

Damn it, Maureen, I don't want to hear about your warm weather. Just kidding. Lucky you!

Northern Michigan here..
We are in the midst of DD's storm and it's a doosey!
First snow of the year is always lovely. (and very deep, 1-2 feet) I'm hoping for another snow day for Sydney tomorrow. I've got food, but forgot milk, now I really want to make a pan of brownies and eat them with a glass of milk..

I'm in Northern CA and we got hit on Sunday. It's been so cold that the snow hasn't melted off the roads or driveways. I'm going to try and get out today because I feel to out of touch and I need some chocolate too.

I remember the book where Lauren Ingalls Wilder wrote about being snowed in up in North Dakota. I read all those book as a kid.

My feet are freezing.

If your feet are cold, take the flip flops off and replace with heavy socks silly!
