I think I lost custody

Oh, that puppy! I took the old lady her pills and when I walked in the door the pup came lumbering out from under the sofa, barking and growling, loaded for bear! Just like she thought she was a big dog. Her oversize paws scrabbling on the linoleum and falling on her fat belly. She was so cute. When I bent down to pet her she lost interest in her attack. Mom said "That dog is awful, she's driving me crazy!" I said, well, let me take her home for tonight and I picked the pup up. Mom said, "Oh, noooo, it's too cold for her over there, put her down." Too cold for a puppy, but, okay for me..lmao! She's had a bath now and smells like that good new puppy smell and I noticed she has a new blue collar. Geez. Mom's had two offers from people who would take the dog, but, she said they "aren't the right sort of people for this dog." Okay, then. Lissa is calling her Bailey. We all like her and I'm wondering if maybe she's going to stay? Who is this "right sort of person" she's looking for? LOL.

Seems like your Mother fell in love.
taking care of a puppy is time consuming, less time she'll have for you. That's a good thing, right?

Now see...that is how I wish your Mom would act all the time. That is so sweet and kind hearted. Maybe she does have a heart in there somewhere after all DD?

Oh, she's always had a heart for dogs and cats. It's her children she doesn't like. LMAO!

Apparently the "right sort of person" is not me. LMAO! I am still open to a three legged blind geezer dog. Heh.

Don't feel bad that your mother likes critters better than her own kids.

My mother birthed five kids. I was the youngest until age 10. Then mother got my little brother. Nicky, a black standard poodle, the child of her dreams. Yep, he was her sixth kid, the star of the house & after that she rarely commented on anything we did.

Pat,
We adopted a little pup in November. Because, I think I told you, our little 2 yo dog died suddenly. My son named our new dog, Bailey. lol She's a total sweetheart. Half beagle and half dachshund.
A puppy is a lot of work for an old lady...housebreaking, taking to the vet, etc.. Our pup's had ringworm, round worm, and other stuff that she's needed medicine for....but, we love her.

More snow coming? That means that the temperature cruise up over 20 degrees that will feel like a heat wave when its been zero. I feel for ya. Danm.
Weatherman here is calling for 6 inches here, not good that is paralyzing to this area. Which means I will be snowed in a day or two with the boys. They have to call school because these roads around this lake are just too dangerous.
Hopefully games and movies will occupy the boys. Left to their own creativity it always turns rowdy. Every bed is a trampoline, the stairs are a sledding hill. Nerf swords still hurt! It is exhausting.

Old Lady loves a dog? Fascinating!

If your mom keeps the dog, Lissa gets to play with it all the time... that is a good thing as far as I can see......
Btw, that dog is a cutie... and Lissa a double cutie... :)

Is it just me or does that puppy look bigger than she did yesterday? She's gonna be a big'n. But she looks sweet. Too bad Lis doesn't like her ;)

Goddess, that puppy is adorable. I'd take her in a minute.

I'd love it and hug it and name her George.

when I read "put her down" I thought for a second, that your mom meant "euthenasia"! I had to read it twice!

If that little puppy is barking at the door already, she will need some training. Once she is full-size, it will be difficult to control her, and you don't want her becoming dominant.
I hope your mom is up to that, and that you don't end up having to haul around a huge dog that has a mind of her own, and isn't opposed to nipping at you if she doesn't get her way. My concern would be how the dog would get to vet visits, etc. plus hauling around the 30 or 40 pound bags of dog chow.
On the other hand, she is adorable. . .

Good looking dog DD!. I am a fan of muts and Lacy's (Texas state dog). I have owned a Staffordshire Bull Terrier that was a great dog and got along with everyone and everything despite looking like he could tear into any animal and win.

But Lacy's do it all. They are natural cow workers and herders as well as hog and vermin control/trackers.

I liked the Canadian kid that was saved by his dog, one can't find that kind of courage in men that often anymore. Some people raise donkeys with goats down here and swear by their tenacity against coyotes and other goat predators.
I believe it, since I've seen them bite and kick when doctored or shod.

Oh well, congrats Lissa on your new friend!.

You seem to really have softened towards your mother. I think you seem much calmer about the whole situation. I think thats what you clearly needed. It will help your health!!! The pup is precious. Your mom probably wants to keep her. At least that way Lissa can see her anytime. When Lis gets big your mom will probably draft her to clean for her! LOL!!!!

I haven't softened. I have to stay calm or die. I still hate her.

They are both so very sweet. Glad Lissa has a furbaby to cuddle, for now.

I think you have the dog more than you know. Christina is right, the dog is going to require a lot of care, big bags of food, etc. Guess who gets to do that? Good thing you like the little thing...lol Lissa looks in love :)

Pat, I hope this pup is half as sweet as my sweet old lady. I lost her New Year's eve after a valiant fight, but there was no hope for her to have quality of life. I didn't want her to suffer so I had to put her to sleep. She went, quietly, in my arms. I loved her so. I don't even have any more tears to cry.

Coyote, Awwwww, I am so sorry for your loss. Pets become like family to us, don't they? Aww.

Coyote---I'm so sorry you lost your sweet old lady. From the sound of your post, she was well-loved, and I'm sure she knew it.

Thanks DD and Christina. I loved her with all my heart. She was the gentlest dog that ever walked the earth.

I talked to gma today and told her I would be home on the 21st and foster it until I find it a home, which won't be hard by the looks of that cute rolly pollie thing.

She's adorable, Case. She's going to be really big though.
