I stumbled across this BBC show on you tube. I had never heard of it! OMG, it blew me away. Six British women from ordinary civilization take on the challenge of living for over a month with primitive tribes from across the world. That woman in the photo is a recovering alcoholic who is a bit lost and is just trying to learn that she isn't worthless. The tribal women are incredible in that one. Loving, bright and welcoming despite really hard lives in a male dominated society, they take her in a she becomes a sister. She earns their respect by following traditions, working hard and even bathing with them in croc infested rivers. She doesn't do it cockily, she really is afraid and brave. I can see why she fell in love with these beautiful people. I'll bet she goes back to visit. I would. HERE is her episode with the Afar tribe.
This woman's tribe was beautiful too, not just the women, also the men were really likable. They came to love the white woman's humor, she was game for anything from eating boar brains and fried monkey to getting traditionally painted and naked.
They liked her so much they tricked her into marrying the only single man in the village, hoping she'd stay forever. I won't put in a spoiler, but, I will say she was honest with him and honored that he chose her. He was oddly attractive and a great hunter. I would have built a hut with him, for sure. HERE is her experience with the Waorani tribe.
The documentary is HERE. I haven't watched that one yet, but, I hope it's all on there. It's not all fun and games in the jungle. One poor woman got stuck with a bunch of uptight jesus freaks in Papua New Guinea who were no fun at all. They'd been ruined by missionaries. People called the white woman a bitch for not going along, but, I would have scrammed my ass out of there the first day even if I had to ride a croc back to the air strip. The other tribes I've seen, so far, couldn't have removed me with a herd of Cape Buffalo. I would have stayed there until I croaked and then bargained to get into their afterlife. And taken my pet monkey with me.
Never heard of this one either. Surprised Bravo doesn't send some of the 'real' housewives to a tribe! THAT would be funny and I'd actually watch that!!
