Have you tried these?

I am not in the business of advertising for products on here. I wish someone would pay me for this ad though, but, I'm happy to do it for free.  I usually don't eat frozen prepared food, except for the occasional bean and cheese burrito or frozen waffle. I hate most of it, it's totally gross besides being bad for you. It's easier to just nuke a potato and put some cottage cheese on it when I need real food fast. But, it's midnight and I fell asleep and slept through dinner time. I need to take my vast array of night meds with food, so I looked in the freezer and saw that thing. I don't know when I bought it or why. I must have had a brain fart while shopping or it was on sale. But, I shrugged and stuck it in the microwave. I figured it would suck and I'd throw it out and then at least it wouldn't be taking up bagged ice room in my freezer. (I need my bag of ice. I'm weird and crave ice now. I actually eat ice as a constant snack.)

Holy crap. This stuff is delicious. The green beans are crispy and good, the carrots aren't mushy, the potatoes taste like real roasted potatoes out of the oven, even the good sized chunks of beef are quite palatable. They're moist and not fatty. The Merlot sauce tastes almost like real Merlot sauce. Close enough that I wouldn't complain about it. It's pretty good. I got the package out of the trash and read the contents. There is nothing in there that scared me. And it's not loaded with salt either. Damn.

They make other kinds, so I'm gonna try them all. Oh, and the calorie content? 220 calories. Are you kidding me? Not that I care, I could stand to gain a few pounds at this point, but, it's good to know. The portion size is pretty good too. It might not fill up a grown man, but, it's perfect for me. Who knew? Frozen prepared food that isn't shit. Good deal. If you're in the same boat I am, in that you need food, but, it's sometimes way too much trouble to cook for one person or you just need something quick..try this stuff. Let me know what you think.

  1. When I was in the Corporate world - I ate many frozen entrees for lunch. Mostly this brand and Lean Cuisine. I think though the taste and nutrition have improved greatly since then. They were quick, somewhat filling and flexible - if I had 5 minutes to eat lunch they fit in nicely. Many ladies I worked with existed on them.

  2. They're new to me because I HATE frozen dinners. The only exception, until this, was Stouffer's lasagne. I stopped making lasagne when I tasted theirs. It's as good as mine with some cottage cheese on it. If Stouffer's ever comes out with eggplant lasagne, I'll probably stop gardening. Anyhow, I just bought 2 more flavors of the healthy choice and I can't wait to see it they're as good as the beef merlot. It saved me a ton of trouble cooking at midnight.

  3. I love them, and LeanCuisine, and some Smart Ones. It sucks trying to cook for 1 without over making.

  4. I just had one of those today. Some days I'm too lazy to pack a lunch, I'll buy one from the nearby drug store. Today I had Grilled Chicken Red Pepper Alfredo. Tons of broccoli, it was really good. For some reason, the American line is a bit different than the Canadian line. Wonder why that is.

  5. They have a pasta portobello and chicken (pretty sure it's chicken, a white meat) which is pretty good. I don't go the frozen lunch route often but have in the past and I love mushroom and it was light, tasty and enough to satisfy your hunger for a small meal.

  8. Lean Cuisene makes a killer panini samitch! You micro it on its own little platform thingy and it actually comes out toasted! I like the chicken Sante Fe ( I think that's it), and the Philly cheese steak. Hubs takes them for his lunch sometimes too. oh the chicken bacon ranch is good too.
I can never finish a whole TV Dinner, no matter what kind. Tia is TINY to be able to eat all that. Prolly a whole lot more energetic than I am too.

  10. Okay, now I have several things to try based on your recomendations. Maybe frozen food is getting better.

Tia, I haven't tried Stouffers pot pies, but, I will now. We do like Marie Calender's pot pies, but, they're a little pricey so I only buy them once in awhile. Lissa loves them too. The cheap ones taste okay, but, they don't have much of anything in them. I keep a bag of mixed frozen veg in the freezer to add to them and sort of even them out. She'll actually eat that sometimes even though it has...ewww vegetables. Makes a quick lunch. I refuse to buy her hot pockets anymore. I think they're garbage. She loves them, but, after reading the contents, I think she'd be better off eating a bowl of sugar pops or coco puffs. It's gross what garbage they aim at kids.

  11. Oh, I have to mention the Tyson company. They advertise it on the school website!! Lis begged me for Tyson chicken products. OMG, that stuff is so nasty the dog wouldn't touch it. Never again.

  14. I haven't tried these, but have used Lean Cuisine before. When I get the little freezer up and running again, I think I will buy a few and try them out. I do like Lean Cuisine, though. Any of the mexican or pasta, salisbury steak, etc. were really good.
