This is the most heartbreaking story I've seen in ages. A judge gave a 9 year old girl back to her biological father and took her away from the family who had legally adopted her as a baby. All of them got screwed, even the bio dad, but, mostly little Sonya. HERE is the story.
Sonya's bio dad had his parental rights terminated because of some dumb law about felons and kids, when Sonya was just a baby. So, she was released for adoption. She got a great family and dad got jail. But, he had his sentence reduced, so he just passed the deadline for terminating parental rights, so he got her adoption overturned. OMG. Some crazy judge allowed the state to take Sonya away from the only family she had known all these years and send her to Omaha with her bio dad. He's a complete stranger to her. Can you even imagine how scared she is and the pain her parents are in? WTF is wrong with people and judges and social workers...and all of it!?
Bio dad got screwed years ago. His crime didn't involve child abuse or neglect, it was a guns charge! But, it's too late, bio-dad. It's too late now. Send this child back to her family and ask for visitation. How could he do that to his own daughter? OMG, this is going to mess this kid up so bad. Poor Sonya. And her family. And fuck most judges. Why do they always make the wrong call??
That judge is a heartless bastard. Hell, the man has no real feelings for this child either. He could end up molesting her. That's my greatest fear for her. Plus, wth kind of friends do you think he has? And the women he will be bringing home. And the kind of home he can provide. probably a far cry from what she was used to. The family must be mourning the loss, as if she had died. Ripped from their arms in a flood. GD judges, they really aren't good to the people they should be. See? Karma never gets them either. Karma is a bitch, but only if you are poor or normal. And minding your own business, then it gets ur ass. F that judge. Pardon my French. This is just really sad. So many tears have been shed, I cannot even imagine.
ReplyDeleteHe could be a great father too. He fought for her. But, it's too late! Bio dad should have a heart and send her home. The judge is an idiot bastard.
ReplyDeleteI don't even want to know what conditions she's living in now, with her ex-convict father. They have a hellava time getting and keeping jobs. This will not end well. Did they even get parental visits? I didn't read the article. This is as bad, in reverse, as the woman that adopted the Russian kid, ended up hating him, sent him back on a plane with a note attached to him. She was arrested tho. But I believe the boy was sent back to relatives in Russia. Ppl have grown heartless.
ReplyDeletePoor kid............
ReplyDeleteIdiot judge and selfish dad :( . That poor kid, I can't imagine how scared she must be.
ReplyDeleteHow can any of us be amazed by the court system. We've followed your trials of aggravation and determination to get the right thing done for Lis. Do we really think it will ever change? And the kicker is that they are always talking about what's good for the child. I think they missed the call on this one too.
ReplyDeleteNo visits, no contacts after a few phone calls where she begged to come home. Heartbreaking. Bio dad is losing all sympathy. I can see his side, it was unjust, but, now he needs to man up and think of the child. She needs her adoptive parents. This whole thing has been handled wrong. It makes me cry.
ReplyDeleteAbout Lis, Jane, I have come to some conclusions of my own. DHS will never consider her best interests and now she's almost 10 and has her own opinions. I defer to her. Hard as it is.
Anon, sorry, but, I had to take off that comment, even though it brightened my sad heart. It had a second person's nik in it and I have no clue about that person. I don't really know them. I'm sure you understand. Thank you. Why don't you email me?
ReplyDeleteAnon, seriously, email me.
ReplyDeleteStories like this rip my heart out. I know he felt shafted, and that he never should have lost her, but a better person would have left her life intact, and tried to make a small place in her life for himself. He could have developed a new and different relationship with her, without destroying everyone and everything. Sickening. I hope that doesn't really reflect deep selfishness, but it probably does. I worry for her. She had a chance at a great future, but I guess he felt he was more important.

I so agree with you. If it had been me, I would have been so angry about that unfair law. But, I could not have done this to a child. He has to know it's wrong. Hopefully, he'll have a heart and share her with her real family.
