It's being reported that Owen Wilson slit his wrist and took a bunch of pills and ended up in the hospital in serious condition. A family member found him yesterday and he was rushed to St. John's hospital in Santa Monica , Calif. He's now in stable condition.

Is it the whole Kate/Dax thing? Maybe seeing her being happy with a D-lister is driving him nuts. On drugs? Well,DUH!

You lot are totally insensitive to the depth of desolation and desperation he had to be experiencing to feel so hopeless as to not be able to find the emotional energy to face any more tomorrows.
If he hadn't been found by one of his brother's we would be reading about plans for his funeral and lamenting on how no-one had a clue he was so depressed & feeling so desperate.
The blowhans of this world are the ones who are 'crying' for attention. The out of the blue actions in Owen's case are of a man who didn't want to live anylonger.
I hope he gets and is able to feel all the love and support from his family & close friends. That it helps him find something positive to focus on and look forward to.
There are times when some of you take you celeb watching free speech soap box bullshit to a whole new assinine ignorant level usually reserved for heads of state.

Owen has asked that us bloggers just leave him alone right now, so that's what I plan to do, until some real news comes out or a statement by him on what happened. He is, at this time, still in the hospital.
I understand and agree with the sympathetic comments; however, it is true that a depressed person who downs pills and makes some slash marks on his wrist (as sees to be the case here) is not really attempting suicide. Pople (especially men) who are serious about suicide put a gun in their mouths and pull the trigger, or hang themselves in their jail cells or barns or basements. Poster 1 has it right - it's a cry for help, and I hope he finds the help he needs.

Kudos to you DD, for letting things lie for awhile. I'm a fan of Owen's and while I don't always love his movies, he's funny and not afraid to make fun of himself. (I freakin' loved him in Zoolander & Wedding Crashers). I think the blog-o-sphere should leave him alone for awhile and let him re-coop.
Maybe he should come down to Austin (he's a UT grad), have some Tex-Mex, a few Lone Stars and chill down by the lake...that does everybody some good.
