It was reported as a suicide. No biggie, right? I mean the guy had to be a little nuts to try blackmailing Tom Cruise. Here's what's wierd..Toms lawyers immediately started damage control saying "Cruise is not personally involved in this, as he is in Germany shooting Valkyrie, in which he stars as a German officer who tries to assassinate Adolf Hitler."

I read about this late last week, he was dubbed the 'Sultan of Sleaze', and he'd tried to kill himself two weeks prior to succeeding. He'd brokered a number of 'sex tapes' of celeb's over the year's. Paris and Pamela are just a few.
"The details of his death are still undisclosed, although according to George Rush, it wasn’t a huge surprise. Two weeks prior to his suicide, Schmidt had reportedly tried, and failed, to kill himself.
According to Rush, David called him often, as a cry for help. “I did something really stupid. I put a belt around my neck in the shower. Fortunately, it didn’t work,” Schmidt reportedly told Rush.
“He was phoning me every other day,” said Rush. “I kept saying, ‘You got to get yourself some medication.’ He said he was on some, but it just didn’t work for very long.” "
