I happen to think Sarah Silverman is a breath of fresh air.
In my opinion, she was making the point that women today undergo abortions as easily and with as little forethought as they might give to having a manicure.
Even though I'm a die-hard pro lifer, it's easy for me to see that her skit neither promotes nor denounces abortion and there's no reason to be offended. Especially for the readers of a celebrity gossip blog where tasteless topics are bandied about on a daily basis, ad infinitum.
I agree with DD...This girl isn't the slightest bit funny (my hubby finds her funny somehow)..All she does is act like a classless pig..If she were a man, she would have been booed off..But because of the shock value of a female being crude and crass, she is making a fortune..My hubby made me watch her show once and I didn't laugh even one time..

I am the original commentor and I didn't mean to start a flaming war here. I think there is enough love in the world for me to love Sarah and DD even if DD hates Sarah! another plus about Sarah is at least she is not a Hollywood carbon copy paper cut who runs around and flashes her poon at everyone all the time and she is not afraid to make fun at herself that has to count for something in my book...but DD you are still my favorite gossip girl!

Silverman has always been an imflammatory comedienne and frankly this comes as no surprise. She has always taken the most serious topics and poked fun in that dead-pan way only Silverman has truly mastered. Ever see "The Aristocrats"? She had a 5 minute joke about incest and rape... that was way more offensive to me.
And I'm adopted. And have had an abortion. Both are scars on my life, but I accept and love them like the scars on my skin.
And despite my scars, she makes me laugh. Count me as one among the masses.
Comedians, for the most part, are fairly tortured people who make light of the most difficult issues so socitey can start a dialogue.
it takes a certain kind of thick skinned, racist, insensitive, rude person who is never shocked by anything to appreciate sarah silverman.
her jokes are so vile, and rude, and deeply offensive. there are other comedians who do hit on sensitive issues but in a tactful manner... she goes all out insulting. and that's what separates her from real comedians.
