Robert Goulet passed away, Tuesday, while waiting for a lung transplant. He had a great career, a long life, he lived long and will be remembered well. Isn't that more than most of us can hope for?

He didn't live THAT long!! 73 isn't that old these days. I have heard contradictions about him smoking & not being a smoker. I swear I used to see him on TV smoking on TV shows when he was singing. Someone said he's like Christopher Reeves late wife & died from 2nd hand smoke exposure cancer from singing in clubs. Whats the facts on this? BTW- I loved this guy :(
I don't know. I had a friend die of lung cancer and she'd never smoked. I had a grandmother who smoked two packs a day all her life and died at a ripe old age NOT from lung cancer. I don't think lung cancer cares if you smoke or not.
I hope his death while waiting for a transplant at least brings more attention to the fact that NO ONE IS A FUCKING DONOR! What are you gonna do with those organs when you're dead? Pisses me off to no end.
It's true. I think if you are gonna get cancer, you are just gonna get it. It's in your genes. Whether it needs a trigger or not, I don't know. But smoking is definitely a big trigger. He lived in a time when it was very cool to smoke & the Rat Pack all smoked while on stage, very cool...back then. Not so cool now. & Maybe he didn't smoke, either way it's a warning to all. & I agree about the donor thing. My daughters boyfriend's Mother died suddenly while in her 40's,brain anuerysm, she was a donor, it's a process & adds a couple of days to the arrangements being made for a funeral & such. They have to keep them "alive" by machine until all the recipients are found & plans made etc.It's heartwrenching & tough, but in the end it can do some people alot of good & save lives. They take EVERYTHING too. Even the skin.

On GMA this morning they showed video clips of him singing when he was younger. He had a beautiful voice and he was a hunk!!
