Kim Ledger: “We remain humble as parents and a family, among millions of people worldwide who may have suffered the tragic loss of a child. Few can understand the hollow, wrenching and enduring agony parents silently suffer when a child predeceases them. Today’s results put an end to speculation, but our son’s beautiful spirit and enduring memory will forever remain in our hearts.
While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath’s accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage.”

It's was a sad ending for a good guy. I'm going to leave it at that unless there is real evidence of irresponsible doctors and lawsuits and such.

What people don't understand is, if the Dr prescribes it that still doesn't make it safe. I have lost 3 friends from them mixing meds. And just recently I lost an old friend to
mixing anti depressants and xanax. She didn't mean to OD she went to sleep and never woke up. Please be careful with medicine it is all made up of different chemicals and a lot of them clash. Maybe Dr's will see this since we've lost a celebrity to it.
it is extremely sad and very frightening to read the results of this. I know in Canada here, not that probably many read it - but with each perscription you are given, at least at the majority of pharmacy's, a sheet is given to read about it and it always states what not to take together - I happen to read everything, but I am just like that.
Also, at least where I get my prescriptions, any new prescription, they won't release it to you until a pharmacist goes over it with you and if you have any questions to answer.
So very sad that this had to happen, but if nothing else, at lest Matilda will know her daddy didn't just leave her.

Crystal, I agree with you, it's so important to know what you're taking and how it can react with other meds... and by the way, I am
a Canadian LOL!!! We may be the only two on here as far as I know.
I too get those sheets from my pharmacy and plus they have on file all the meds I am taking and every time I am precribed something different, they go over my other medication to see if there could be problems. I love this service. Of course if someone wanted to hide what they are taking, they could just go to another pharmacy, I guess. I don't know if they are all linked together by your health insurance number, but if not, it could be good if they were
PS: to my previous post, forgot to sign my name. I'm Susan.

I lived in London for over a decade. When I returned to the States, I was shocked (not too strong a word) at the number of pharmaceutical commercials on American TV, some offering a free sample. The overarching image is of an America suffering from incessant maladies and under constant doctor's care. Street dealers my ass...the FDA is the biggest drug pusher in the world.
The goal of pharmaceutical companies is to create a situation where no physical activity, be it digesting food, getting rid of it, peeing, not peeing, making love, sleeping, waking up, coping with the problems of life, can be achieved without the use of a liver destroying pill. Actually helping people get better has nothing to do with anything. People with addictive personalities are sitting ducks these days.
