Gorgeous photos

Reader Susan sent in these totally gorgeous photos from her yard. I recognize Pansies and Bleeding Heart (one of my all time favs) but, what is that first one, Susan?? It looks like my Dead Nettle, but, the flowers are blue. Man, these are some pretty photos. Thanks!

Hi all. DD, the plant is called "Jack Frost" (Heartleaf Brunnera). It is a perennial and is totally gorgeous. It is a shade loving plant but the flowers and leaves light up any shady garden because they shine and shimmer and I'm serious! It is one of my most favorite plants that I have in my garden, just love the beautiful blue flowers and the shimmery leaves. It blooms around the same time as my bleeding heart and the contrast of colors is really nice.
Glad you guys liked the pics,

Susan

It's cute. The leaves look like my white nancy dead nettles..which I love. They grow in the shade here and look like jewels at night.

Susan, have you ever seen Jack Frost in pink? The leaves remind me of something I used to see in a neighbourhood garden, but I'm sure the flowers were pink.

Susan! Those are great pics.

I need you to come to my house and rescue my dying topiary with your super green thumb. :).

Capricious Cat, I know there is a white flowered version of Heartleaf Brunnera called Mr. Morse, which is really pretty too. Personally, I have never seen them in pink. When I get a chance I'll do some searching on the net.

DD, I have some Dead Nettle too but my flowers are purple. I found out that mine are called "purple dragon". It's true that the leaves are similar to my Jack Frost, but the Jack Frost is really quite a large plant. Of course that didn't show in my pic.
Capricious Cat, I'll bet that the plant you saw in your neighbor's garden was Dead Nettle. I've seen them in pink for sure.
