Gwen at the park

Gwen Stefani sits and watches Kingston play in the park. Fine and dandy. I just want to know why someone would toss on their good coven wear without drawing up the circle, calling the Elementals and lighting the cauldron. Hecate' will frown on this. Heh.

If I wore that dress with my pentacle necklace, I could be the Laurie Cabot of Montreal ;)

Ever notice how 9 out of 10 photos of Gwen, Gavin & Kingston are shot in a park? How often do we see JLo or Aguilera or god-forbid, Paltrow doing "normal", " "middle-class" activities with their kids/family?

I attended Loara HS/Anaheim with Gwen and although we weren't close friends, we knew one another well enough and I always knew her as a very down-to-earth, easy-going, highly-spirited and positive person. She certainly had her 'moods', but hell.. who doesn't at that age?

I just want to say that despite the occasional bad press she receives, our mutual friends have assured me that very little has changed for her-- in that respect. Her fame, her millions and her power in the music industry notwithstanding-- at heart, she's a simple housewife who enjoys play-time with her child, preparing meals for her family (she's a fab cook) and is anxious to see her man at the end of a busy day.

I love that no matter where they are in the world--- Berlin, London, New York or LA, they can always be found feeding the ducks, giving Kingston a push on the swings at a playground, riding a merry-go-round, taking in nearby museums or just chillin' on a bench (or a beach) while the little guy runs amok burning off a bit of his boundless energy.

And rarely will you see a nanny with them, unless they're in transit. It's also been fairly- obvious that she's not out there looking to be photographed. Matter of fact, if they spot the paps.. no fuss, no drama... they'll usually simply get up and casually walk away.

I was able to see her show here in Anaheim last summer (the final leg of her "Sweet Escape" tour) and it was amazing. A "hometown" show is always great and on that occasion she brought out the boys from "No Doubt" for a couple of encores of their greatest hits.

True to form, Gwen had the baby and Gavin on tour with her and made several references to them-- "sleeping backstage in her dressing room." I'm thrilled for them now that they're expecting baby #2, and although Gavin's getting ready to tour again himself and she's gearing up for the highly-anticipated No Doubt reunion tour (baby is due in August).. I wish them the best and I know they'll always keep it together, keep it strong and KEEP - IT - REAL.
