My backyard has some real possibilities. Yeah, it has some overgrown weeds and needs some care, but, I really like it. I found a shed. Mom said she knew someone who could tear it down and cut down the trees and I said, no, I like it. It will make a great shade garden on that side. Someday. I don't know wtf that wire fence in the middle is for. I'm taking it out and hacking the weeds from the side of the house. That's my project for next month. Right now..OMG..it's crazy.

I've had cabinets and carpet and lino ripped out..and walls and a window. When we took down one wall there was a window under it. A window to no place. That's gone now and the drywall is up. The floor is finished too, but, I have to wait until the workman gets his tools and stuff out to get a good photo. I'll post some before and after photos next week. I found old tin advertising signs in the floor. For auto parts..I heard stories that this building used to be an early auto parts shop. I guess it's true. I have new wiring now too. It's up to code and not from 18 frickin' 100s.

I told you it was a neglected dump. I wasn't lying. But, it has good bones and it's starting to look really cute inside. I like my dump. Someday it will be a charming cottage. Wait and see.

i like the shaft of light in the first photo on the left hand side! looks like captain kirk is gonna beam down!!
that shade will be a great place to go sit on a hot afternoon!!
thats a gorgeous yard, a bit of work, but its so peaceful- what a great place!!
Phew! Couldn't post a comment at first and thought the 'bots had messed this up too!
I love, love, love your garden. I can just see a little fish pond/waterfall thingie, where you can go and meditate when you're stressed out...and a scattering of wildflower gardens...it's going to be beautiful, DD!
Hey, with all this renovation, maybe you'll find a huge cashbox full of money under the floor or behind a wall! Wouldn't that be something :)

Oh DD so many possibilites in that beautiful yard. I'm sure you will be very happy and peaceful living in this house once you get it up to what you desire. My house was built in the eary 1940's and we just about gutted and totally re-did the inside over the years and I never regretted it. It is solid and even though it is pretty small it housed our little family of three perfectly. Been here for almost 30 years and will only leave when they have to cart me out on a stretcher. While lots of my friends and co-workers were bitching about the mortage on their lovely, new, modern homes me and hubby were living pretty easy, even if we had a small, modest little house. As opposed to them, it's been paid off for years.

PS: I just love that huge and ancient looking tree! Do you know what it is? Is it old or does it just look that way in the picture?

Phew, I'm glad to see that your backyard doesn't seem to be under water! I like the shed! You could keep ponies or mini-donkeys in there.
Very cute - so many possibilities! That shed could be redone into a cute little garden house (if it's still structurally sound). I feel the twinges of potential beauty back yard envy! :)

it looks fantastic!!! i have little twinges of backyard envy going up my spine too!!
The fence might have been to protect a veg garden, or something. I can't tell how big it is.
I'm going to be fixing up a neglected cottage too, hopefully this summer, so maybe I'll send photos if I remember to take some.
Smart you, seeing the bones (architecture), most people just can't do that.
I like hearing your fixer upper stories too..send pics! I think that's an oak tree.
OMG! You are really fixing this place up! From the ground up! It will be nice and you will be done before the 1st snow! The yard does look like its going to be cool. I'd make a potting shed outta that little barn. Hang a little window box from it, make a little seating area out there with some landscaping stones. It will be awesome. Its not so big that you can't maintain it either. I've got 3 acres to keep mowed and it's a mower eater! Enjoy! I'm really excited for you. The old signs sound cool, eBay? Make some cash & use it for new carpet!
I've done about as much big work as I can afford this year. The rest will be creativity and manual DD labor. It's all cool. I can't wait to just live here. It's cozy.
