Nicole Richie on DUI

Nicole: “We were watching the news once and they happened to be talking about drunk drivers. They started flashing up pictures of little children that had been killed by people driving under the influence.

“At that moment I literally felt like the worst person in the world for even trying to get out of that situation. That was our first real parent moment.”

She added, “There’s absolutely no way I will do anything like that again. I never took life seriously before. I’m in a completely different place now. I owe my baby my life. I have a responsibility now. I have to really be someone I want my child to look up to. I think it’s important for every child to look up to their parent. I want to show her the right path.”

I think that revelation is probably a truth that all of us get to eventually. It's too bad we aren't born with that knowledge..some people are, most of us aren't. I understand what she's saying and I'm glad she got to that place in her head.

Good mom. I think she's right. This baby may have saved her life. Hope she stays clean. If her & Joel break up, I would imagine she'd get messed up all over again.

I REALLY hope she means that.
She seems so much more together than her partying peers.
I wouldn't have guessed it was possible a year ago.
Best wishes, Nicole

Great post, Dish. A real day-brightener.

I too, hope Nicole is able to stay clean, keep her relationship with Joel tight and most of all... give baby Harlow a good and proper childhood.

I wish the three of them well.

::::UPDATE::::

Well, that didn't last long.

I live in Las Vegas, NV and just this morning (Sunday, 7/6) comes news that a hard-partying Nicole Richie was actually in a fight with several other people at the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino-- The skirmish resulted in her being escorted off the property by security. I don't know how she managed to not be arrested!

Oh, and there was no sign of Joel apparently... but Carey Hart (of the tats 'n motocross 'n Pink) *WAS* there.

Some things never change. What's next? Another DUI?

Poor baby Harlow. :-(
