Richie-Madden Foundation Beyond Shelter Visit
Nicole Richie and her friend Carlos made this video to raise money and awareness for children who need a play ground. It tells you where to text if you'd like to donate. The children are the sweetest kids, but, I'm cynical. Sometimes I wonder why all these rich people need my 5 dollars. I heard it's $10 grand to build the play ground. Why don't they just build a park themselves? I hope it's part of a bigger picture. It must be, right?

I agree DD! I know it's for a great cause, but I have great causes too - food, gas, medicine, etc. that these celebrities don't have to worry about. Why don't they just write the check or recruit their celebrity friends to do it?? It doesn't make sense to me.

That place is a shelter with 175 kids who were homeless before living there, and have no (safe)place they can play & just be children(they have to stay within the shelters walls for their own safety as its a high crime neighbourhood). Average of 175 children and only 7-10 at a time allowed in the small room used as a 'library'.
I think it was a great thing she visted there and brought some needed attention there.
It would be fantastic if every 'rich' person handed over what amounts to buckets of money to us, but it's no more their sole responsibility to provide from their bank accounts then it is anyone elses. It's as much our responsibility to do and give what we can, so it's not 50 grand lump sum, but those old toys & books sitting in boxes and 10 bucks off the grocery bill means just as much.
who has $10 to shave off a grocery bill??????? most regular peoples do not...
donating items is a good item though...
bullshit. everyone can shave $10. do you really need that bag of chips and french fries for your already too-fat little brat? i highly doubt it. don't buy lunch at work or that one or 2 cups of coffee.
there's $10 in every wallet that isn't all that hard to find.
smart shopping goes a long way as does looking into doing without crap your body doesn't need either.

and who the fuck says these "stars" have millions in their account? it's not all in liquid assets. most is tied up in investments. also, we tend to live pay to pay. when you made less money, you lived pay to pay. you get a raise or 10 & guess what? you STILL live pay to pay. why would they be any diff? they just live better from pay to pay.

i don't BUY chips, french fries and i don't buy food at fast food places, coffee places, etc CUZ I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TOO!
i am a very smart shopper and i do NOT eat junk food. i do most of my grocery shopping at aldi's. i spend $130 a month on food. that's just for me, one person.
i have no money to spare and if i DID it would go to animal causes, not something some rich bitch wants peoples to donate too cuz she spent THOUSANDS putting powder up her nose and heroin too....

If you can live in southern California, YOU ARE NOT POOR!!! this location off of the 110 freeway is PRIME REAL ESTATE, on a clear day from the top of this concrete jungle you can see the Pacific ocean, Century City and the Hollywood sign. Watch the video again, each unit has double paned windows, central air/heat and over 1100 square feet, clean grounds.poor?
LA County Housing Authority pays up to $1690 per month for a 4+ bedroom residence. WIC gives $190 in food stamps per mo, per child. The *perks* are endless and the waitlist is long.
Poor in LA means that you were living check to check and lost your job. Recovery is damn near impossible without help.
BTW just to get the permits and labor to erect AN APPROVED play area on LA County owned property will cost WAAAY MORE THAN $10k!
