Murder in Chicago

Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, was found dead in her Chicago home by a family member yesterday. Darnell had been shot. Hudsons brother, Jason Hudson, 29, was also found murdered at the scene. Missing..her 7 year old nephew, Julian King. An Amber Alert issued Friday said William Balfour was a suspect in the double homicide. Balfour (shown above) was married to Jennifer Hudson's sister, Julia, but, they have been separated for some time. He listed his address as Jennifer's mom's house, but, Darnell Donerson had ordered him to move out last winter.

Jennifer's sister, Julia, the childs mother, has not been seen since she left work yesterday. Police are looking for 1994 white Suburban with the license plate X584859.

Update: WGN TV Chicago, says that the suspect, William Balfour is now in custody, but, his 7 year old stepson is not with him. And Balfour isn't talking. Where is Julian???

You can take the girl out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of the girl...or her family.

This poor girl's life just became a living hell. I feel awful for her. I'm sure the nauseating comments were meant as a mean joke but they don't really matter, do they? Violence happens within families every day at every income level, but we already knew that, didn't we?

Damn straight. It has absolutely NADA to do with "the ghetto".

I've also read comments on other sites where people felt Jennifer should have been doing more for her family... getting them out of the Southside for example, and supporting them so that they didn't have to work 'regular jobs' or worry about transportation (the murder spree was apparently ignited by an argument over Jen's sister's estranged husband having sold a car on the DL).

I have little doubt that Jennifer remained close to her family and was probably more than generous with her time as well as her money. Her story has always touched me deeply-- from her very first Idol audition (singing Aretha!) where she emerged, gold ticket in hand to the arms of her joyous family (mom included)... all the way through to her award winning performance in Dreamgirls and beyond.

I cannot imagine what in HELL she could possibly have done to avert this tragedy? From what I hear, this guy had a hair-trigger temper going back to his childhood. He could have gone off on the family at ANY time... at ANY place. Including a penthouse suite at the Four Seasons!

Right now, the focus needs to remain on the search for the child and for Jennifer's sister. I hope they turn up safe... and soon. I don't even want to think about the alternative.

Positive thoughts are with you tonight, Jennifer.

It's still ghetto or trash or whatever you want to call it. How many "common" people of any race carry a gun to settle an arguement?

This is not racial - it's just low class. Which proves that money has nothing to do with class - it's a state of mind.
