I watched Britney in For The Record last night. Did anyone else watch that? I watched it twice..crazy? Not crazy? Recovering? Anyway you cut it, Britney is fascinating. I know it was mostly damage control, a very good damage control, but, you could read a bit between the lines. I was trying to reconcile this new bright Britney with that old Britney who seemed very dumb. The new Britney seems almost smart. Not a genius, sure, but, not an idiot.

Was it scripted? If so, then she's a better actress than anyone has credited her for. She does seem to have some creative control and input, which makes her more talented than I had thought. I was impressed with her ideas about her work. On the other hand, her personal life seems to be making her sad and confused.

I HAVE to talk about Madonna showing up in this with her frickin' opinions. Get real..for once, Gristle. Madge was doing her a favor by being in her documentary, so, Britney returned the favor by appearing in Madge's show. That's just business and I'm not stupid enough to think these two are friends. The backstage chat was awkward and a little creepy. Gristle says she feels maternal about her buddy,Brit, but, if that's true she would have hopped her old ass on a plane a year ago and tried to help. Madge is clearly full of shit and it was just PR for their work. Gristle is not likable at all. But, Britney is. I found myself wanting to yell "Don't hang around with her, Brit, she's NOT your friend." But, I think Britney knows that.

Britney is likable even when she doesn't make sense. And she's not making complete sense yet. I was left with the feeling that the biggest celeb in the world is doing a delicate balancing act. And as she's tiptoeing across the beam, I sort of wanted to spot for her, not shove her off. Precarious at best, but, always fascinating.

Saw it the 1st time it ran. It was good. I liked her dad. Those cheese grits he made were making me miss grits! I love grits! he's a great dad. Brit did a great job with this film. She did need to clear up some sh**. I think she did too. I have always liked her, never thot she would fade away. I worried about her for a long time. Do you think she was talking about Sam or Adnan when she was talking about how she was too trusting and then she didn't trust anyone? And that she made some bad choices in who she trusted? I am thinking maybe both, and that she wasn't letting her family "in". She's gonna be ok. She's still got a thing for Justin, somewhere deep inside her. I can't imagine who on earth she could date!! Good Gawd! What a ridiculous "Circus"...she titled her new CD aptly!!!
I found it disturbing when Papa Spears was dressed as a freaky clown and scaring the crap out of the little boys. Britney and Spears' dad were laughing while the the nanny was distraught and yelling at him to "take it off". Britney even laughingly said, "now you know what to do when they're bad". WHAT??? What kind of mother does that? Those poor cute little boys with their big fat tears...and crazy ass family. They are going to have ISSUES. I still think Britney is psycho.
I had a problem with that too, 2:39:00 It's really beyond odd that they think it's okay to terrify two toddlers who've been through Britney's shit. I was kind of creeped by that.
Yeah, 2:38:00..I wondered who she was talking about too. Sam, Adnan, ParAss Hilton, her mom?? So many choices.
That clown costume was f'g scary as sh**!!!! But he took it off and he made up with them. He didn't think it was scary. Kids are just plain scared of clowns. That one looked like a killer. I think Brit was just being silly for the camera when she said 'now you know what to do when they are bad'...she wasn't being vicious. She's sweet and was trying to make her dad not feel awful about it. It wasn't that big of a deal. 2:39...you need to lighten up. Pa-Pa made up with them. It's Halloween, Halloween can be scary, it was a bit of a mistake, and they knew it. Not a huge deal.
Madonna feels maternal towards Britney? How sick does that make that lesbo centre-stage kiss??
The clown thing was definitely scary and I felt bad because it was like a murderer looking clown and the kids are like 2 and 3yrs old! Anyway, besides that i was really liking dad and felt he truly seems to love his daughter and grandsons. What is the deal with her mom? She is not around and I'm sure that is a big part of her issues. I did feel it was major damage control and even caught myself rolling my eyes a lot towards the end with the inspirational music and all that. Brit IS rather fascinating and I feel bad for her b/c she does not seem to be quite together yet. I know they want us to think she is, but she isn't. In one scene she is crying and saying she is sad and in another she says she chooses to be a happy person. We could see her internal struggle. I sort of have issues with stars who sort of blame everything on their fame (which should take SOME blame) yet, don't choose to retreat from it...whether for their sanity or her son's sanity. Clearly she loves what she does and that is cool, but you can't have it both ways. You can't want to be famous and then be mad that your famous and can't go to the grocery store with your kids. I truly hope that she finds the balance she needs.
This film is damage control and I think Britney is still in deep physo- mode, Her dad certainly is helping her and making her be accountable, she needs him right now. She is likeable but I'm Not a fan.
Very well said anon 4:40
omg! This blog has been devoted to Brit Bashing for as long as I have been visiting (a yr?). And you folks are now calling this shameless infomercial endearing?
She is marginally intellegent and marginally talented. Would never ever had made it even with IDOL, or such. Disney cute kid all she was
She seemed very vulnerable to me and I hope she remains in that conservatorship with her father for the foreseeable future. I like Britney a lot, but she still seems painfully immature. She still thinks she's missing out on something by not being out and going to clubs. Clubbing can be fun, but you certainly don't miss anything by not going. She's a mother with two children, yet she still seems to think that life should be this thrill-a-minute adventure.
The film mentioned nothing of Mama Spears...is she still on bad terms with Brit?
The clown thing actually was kind of a big deal 3:02...I'm guessing you don't have kids. Children that young are incredibly vulnerable and I'd imagine SP and JJ even more so than the average kids. To purposefully scare toddlers that way and then laugh at their fear is disturbing. No wonder Brit lost custody to Feder-Douche.
That clown suit would've scared the hell out of me too and I'm 31 yrs old ! I thought she was referring to Kevin and Sam both when she was talking about being taken advantage of. Kevin married and bred with her for the money and Sam fucked with her head to the point that she acted so looney that the world thought she was clinically insane. She seems like shes getting her shit together. I hope she does, at least for the sake of her boys.

Which is precisely why I've been saying for months that she has no business pushing herself (or BEING pushed) so hard for this "comeback"... or however they want to frame it. I call it; "Make every dollar you can off this world-famous cash cow before she cracks."
I truly believe her daddy is good-intentioned (and to a lesser extent, her mom) and that they have her best interests at heart. But I also believe they're misguided and easily-led and people like Larry Rudolph just run right over them.
I don't care what anyone says, if you've been paying attention at all in the past few years you'll know she's still a very sick girl who needs to be concentrating on getting healthy-- mentally, emotionally and physically. And then, just maybe... getting her KIDS BACK? (Hell-O?)
The only reason this poor girl is functional at all is because she's loaded with psych meds. (court-ordered, btw) You'd have to be an idiot not to notice that much of the time she's clearly sedated. I don't think this "new Britney" has anything to do with "maturity".
I'm afraid for her. The recording, dance rehearsals, appearances/performances in recent months have been one thing... but the pace of this upcoming world tour is dangerous and is going to be very telling. Very telling, indeed.
Then again, if she lipsyncs her way through the world tour like she's been doing at every performance recently... maybe it won't be too demanding afterall.
