It's nice to see. He loves her, he's hot for her, and he doesn't care who knows it. They're celebrating an amazing achievement like they should be.

When's the last time you could picture any president gettin' it on with the first lady? With any presidential couple in recent memory, it's like: DON'T EVEN GO THERE - YOU WILL PUKE!!! LOL

Now, though - they're gonna need some new signage: "If the White House is a-rockin' don't come a-knockin'!"

Very hot, very good to see these two aren't just playing a fake political game of husband and wife (sorry, Hill and Bill). I adored her dress and he looked as handsome as he could be in that tux. Swoon is right.

My dead southern grandfather is turning in his grave reading what I wrote above, but I don't care. These two are really something else.

Awww..married people in love! Such a rarity to see these days and very encouraging. Beyonce doesn't hold a candle to Etta, though.

He's some hawt biznaz up in DC, ya'll. Wifey didn't look too shabby either. Good looking family.

anon 1:48 LOL! It's true! They be rockin' the Lincoln Bedroom for all the world to hear!
Why am I talking like that? LOL
Is DC the new 'hood? Oh yeah!

jeez i'm so queer.i've seen it 2 times now and both times i teared up. who can blame them? they are a hot couple. if my husband had his bod i'd be swooning too :)

We shall see in a couple of years if "change" helps or hurts. Personally, I think he just tells everyone what they want to hear; he's a lawyer. Our new first lady needs a fashion consultant right away, I have so far disliked just about everything she has picked out. This morning's prayer dress looked like the tinfoil I take out of the BBQ. I wish them the best and hope that Pres. Obama leads our nation to new levels of prosperity. The Obama-mania is akin to the radical global warming hysteria though, and even if he fails, those people will never admit it. George Bush never cared about opinion polls; he is not a politician. He lead and kept us safe after 9/11. I am proud that a Texan took our enemies to task instead of shoving resolutions in their face.

Yeah, Bush deserves applause. I feel So safe.

Get real.

Travel a little, maybe as far as the southern border (Tijuana, Piedras negras, Laredo) and walk around at night or during the day. Where would you feel safer?.

Anonymous said...

Oh, barf. Another 4% dive in the dow...YES WE CAN! Retards.

Anonymous said...

people are so hyped up over obama simply because they couldn't feel any lower after 8 years of bush .

Anonymous said...

I have walked around at night in Laredo, TX and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Never felt unsafe at either place. Some right-wing radical bigot posting on here today.

Anonymous said...

There have been over 80 abducted US citizens in Mexican side of the border. Some left-wing loon assumes that I am a right winger. Ha, i am a libertarian and wish ralph Nader would finally be listned to. Just because you were applying for the Donkey assistant at the show (yes, there is one), don't assume you are safer in Mexico. Look up "Los Zetas".

This blog is the new daily Kos.

Anonymous said...

Why do you think someone is a right winger just because they don't think Obama is the messiah? The didn't say he was a piece of crap..they didn't make a racist statement. You know, you're the kind of person who calls someone a bigot for criticizing Obama's politics , but then turn around and stereotype someone on their politics, assuming who ever disagrees with you is a right winger. Grow up and get a clue.

4:14 well said. Bugs me that the simplest of comments is read into and turned into something it's not.

did you see Sheri Shepard from the View several weeks ago when she likened Obama's win & life to the life of Jesus. OMG i'm so not kidding, my jaw dropped open looking at the screen. Couldn't fathom someone really could be that ignorant of the facts and simple minded?!

OH yeah I've never felt safer travelling by air. Thank god we have the TSA thugs to wand-rape us, make us taste our own breast-milk, refuse to allow our 3 year-olds on a plane because their name is similar to someone else's on the no-fly list. Thank god they'll detain, cuff and kill vulnerable Americans like that woman who was travelling to rehab and freaked out in the airport. And isn't it great to know that those same TSA thugs will help themselves to anything in our luggage and sell it on ebay. AMERICA FUCK YEAH.

Wuh. Dever.

yo 4:24, we've all seen ms. shepard's intelligence in the past... it's not exactly the first idiotic thing she's said.
2:32, you are very much in the minority in thinking michelle needs a fashion consultant. an awful lot of america is in a tizzy over her fashion sense. it's nice to have someone in the news who doesn't dress like my damn grandma

Anonymous said...

We live in hope that this new president will do more for us (and not TO us) than did the last. Sherri S. saying he was a messiah just shows what an extremist she is. Me? I'll wait and see what happens. If stem cell research starts making leaps and bounds toward curing diseases because he has unleashed the money for the scientists, I'll shake his hand. We live in hope.

Getting back to the original post: Isn't white-tie only to be worn with a tail coat?

His past acknowledged "bonehead moves" (his words) scare me. From Wright to Rezko and beyond!

They look like they are talking about how they are gonna "inaugurate" their new bed.

Thanks DD - it was nice to watch. Being Canadian I watched a bit here and there and our news coverage was about 1/2 hour. I kept the paper too, as it is a very historical time for the world at large.

They make a lovely couple. I think he is an extremely nice looking man - very charasmatic, and it certainly shows how in love they are, which is always nice to see.

I heard he is making his first trip to Canada. We have always had very good, tight ties, and I hope that continues.

Nice dress - they both looked very daper.

please read the stories from that website. mexico is NOT a safe place!!!

as for the discussion here.. i just hope obama does the exact opposite of everything he said he's going to do.

I'm canadian too, and we had 18 non stop hours of coverage & there were party's all over the place. I don't know where you live with this half hour buisness.

Canada is more and more becoming an important partner in our efforts to bring stability to regions of the world like Afghanistan. I thought about their sacrifice on D-day, specifically Juno beach, where Canadians fought against determined Nazi defenders. I can attest to their valor in Afghanistan personally. Thanks up there!.

Canadians earned their place in the world in WWI, in fact. Without them, The Great War would have been almost surely lost. They single-handedly and with grim determination took battlefield after battlefield that had previously daunted French and British forces. Their suffering, sacrifice and valour in battle is legendary. They comported themselves the same way in WWII of course. They're celebrated to this day in the Netherlands as liberators of the Nazi occupation. Europeans still maintain monuments and gravesites of Canadian war dead around battlefields in Europe.

Don't fuck with Canucks, that's what I figure. :)

Don't fuck with Canucks, that's what I figure. :) - danm right EHE!

to the previous poster who wondered where in Canada I am - I am in Vancouver and I suppose I should have clarified that I SAW bits and pieces and there was about 1/2 hour coverage on the 6:00news, as I didn't have the TV on all day.

I do beleive Toronta and Ottawa had a few more celebrations then the west.

Ya we did crystal@ parties & coverage.

Vancouver is a really nice area, great weather too! lol your lucky.

The more i see that white dress the first lady wore, the more i like it.

I know writing in CAPS is looked down on here, but that dress screams

PROM NIGHT - 1968!!!!!

All she needs is to put a few of the flowers in her hair!

You Americans are sssooo dumb!!! And lazy. So lazy it's hard for you to think! The Japanese was right overweight dumb asses!

And leave the man alone. A dumb white man stayed in for 8 years. And you dumb ass have a problem with an intelligent black man? Had that been a black man as dumb as Bush he wouldn't have lasted. When are you dumb white trash going to realize that you are just that? Plain, dumb, smelling raw all the time white trash?!!

we are all teared up down under too. ordinary people the world over are teared up about this. why? because an ordinary man of african descent from a single parent family got the 'top job'. and he wasn't born into it like the bush and kennedy dynasty's or your previous 43 presidents who all came from the south (no doubt to protect white supremacy). obama is not just your first black president, he is also your first president not to have come from the south. even if congress does prevent obama from doing any good at all, at least he has taken rosa park, malcolm luther king and all other civil rights leaders struggles to their rightful conclusion and that makes him an icon worldwide and his success, combined with the efforts of those who supported him and voted him in, goes far beyond winning a presidential election. if you look at the obama family, it consists of african, african/american indonesian/american, chinese/canadian people of christian, muslim and jewish faiths. family members speak english, indonesian, french, cantonese, german, hebrew, and african languages such as swahili, luo and igbo and even a few phrases of gullah the creole dialect of the south carolina low country. very few of the obama family members are wealthy and sarah obama only recently got electricity and running water. this family might be new in terms of the white house but not new in reflecting the textures and flavors of our societies. its a pity so many of you on this blog are too hard hearted to appreciate this and too shallow to look past michelle obama's dress sense. and beyonce sang really well too.

Anonymous said...

Lia you are longwinded and shortsighted. How about fighting for Aboriginal rights and cry a river over how stupid and hard-hearted everyone else is except for you. The civil rights movement was slowed down by corrupt BLACK supposed leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Jingoists like yourself that refuse to be objective and would rather push your own agenda. Remember the Jesse Jackson comment about Barack "talking down to ni*****"?. How about the grief pimping that they both do when politically advantageous.

Anonymous said...

Uh, I think you should shut your yap Lia. Not all our presidents have come from the south. If you did a little research before posting you might have discovered that.

Anonymous said...

Lia, who is Malcolm Luther King?

Anonymous said...

DANG People, this is not a political blog, keep that shit to your facebook "wall" or are you too afraid to post all that shit there and start fights with your "friends"? You are all right but you are depressing me and taking all the fun out of this site! I figure DD writes all kinda BS about people and then some of her own opinion and sits back and has a long laugh with Crabbie about the ediots that post shit on her site (i do that)!

Anonymous said...

hey 1/22, 2:21 - jesse jackson did *not*, i repeat, definitely did NOT use the N word there. Definitely. He said Obama was talking down to black people. Which he was. It's easy to do, talk down to black people when you're black to get a pat on the head from white people. Same thing goes for talking down to women when you're a woman. He also said it made him want to rip Obama's balls off, which is perhaps a step or two too far...

Anonymous said...

our first president that's not from the south??? when this country started out, there was NO SOUTH!!! i understand you're not from here.. but please have your facts straight before you start belitting our past presidents... some of whom were WONDERFUL men!

Anonymous said...

mummy...on the white dress - the design is lovely to accentuate her statuesque figure. But - when I first laid eyes on it, my first thought was mummy wraps like on halloween or in old TV shows. Was I the only one in the world who saw the ragtag effect? Yeah, I know, up close it's flowers and crystals or something.

oh yeah sorry.... a few of them followed their (freed) slaves up north.

The dress is beautiful and they are a gorgeous couple. I would guess, like many, that they are very happily married. Watching them walk on the parade route, they had that radar going, that only very happily together couples have. They were holding hands, and they switched off hands, repeatedly, without looking. They are on the same wavelength and just know where to find the other's hand. A small thing, I know, but body language doesn't lie.

Thanks for the link. I just watched it again, and it is sooooo sweet. What a joy to have someone who is actually in love with his wife, in the White House.
