He probably misrepresented himself as a succesful person that would advance her career. She was just happy at first to be with someone that is still sexually active and doesn't smell of Brylcreem and denture strips.
The Playboy Mansion will never look "pretty good". It's a filthy shithole (albeit a very large, expensive shithole) that hasn't been redecorated, re-carpeted or painted since I hung out there in the mid-70's. It probably still has the same bed sheets it did back then. Serious!
