Michelle Obama does People

The First Lady says the First Dog will be here in April and her kids are excited. On the puppy's name..“Oh, the names are really bad. (laughs) You listen and you go – like, I think, Frank was one of them. Frank! Moose was another one of them. Moose. I said, well, what if the dog isn’t a moose? Moose. I’m like, no, come on, let’s work with the names a little bit.”
*
Well at least she lets them pick the puppy's name. Puppies! Puppies! Now I know why Kate Gosselin got puppies..Michelle can't possibly be more important than a tuplet incubator. Look for Kate to NOT be wearing that pink Tracy Reese dress. It cost less than $400.00. Am I the only one who thinks Michelle probably shouldn't have done People? I don't know, it seems kind of tacky.

yeah, people is more celeb oriented...but at least it wasn't the national enquirer! she just did vogue too....

mag wise, vanity fair would have been a good choice as they cover politics and other stories besides just celebs...

but hey, i bet more people buy/see people than other mags....

Very tacky.

Vanity fair is almost broke. Annie Leibovitz had to pawn her work and rights to future work in order to pay her mortgage. The San Francisco chronicle may be closed down by Hearst, NBC is hurting and Dailt Kos lost 63% of visitors. There isn't much choice as to where she can appear, and any rag will do anything to sell amgazines. Who owns People mag?.

I am getting a little Obama fatigue with them constantly on every media outlet; and I voted for him!. I am scared about the economy and the pork getting added to every bill.

I can't start over and my 401k is a third of what it was just two months ago. Please- no political rant here; just venting.

I agree, I think that politics and celebrity should be kept as far apart as possible. I think that it is inevitable that fame comes with certain roles in politics, but politics and celebrity should be mutually exclusive. Here is an example of "celebrity".

I think the choice of appearing on the cover of People mag was a calculated move, in an attempt to maintain that average joe, people friendly air thats become even more important politically considering the past couple weeks happenings.

The idea being everyone (well alot) read people and keeping that idea & feeling for the young family, fresh and tender in everyones mind.

1:57 i feel for you i really do, we are all in it and in it deep, your not alone. Some friends 401k's are HALF what they used to be.

Don't you think the photoshopping on her arm is weird? It's enlongated, almost deformed. Also placed to make her waist look lalf its size.

Anonymous said...

lalf its size. LOL! I'm leaving that alone.

i voted for Obama too and now am regretting it, he is taking us down a slope of massive spending with no idea on how to pay for all of it. i'm scared everyday i will lose my job, I have Lupus and no medical insurance anymore, can't afford it, scary scary times right now for alot of people.

I agree with above. The new budget is at 3 trillion dollars!--It is no longer about rescuing the economy. It can't be when there is so much pork and earmarks. His cabinet has just as many lobbyists as the previous one, and he can't seem to find people who have not cheated on their taxes to work for him.

I voted for him because he promised to go line-by-line and veto earmarks. Instead, he is winging it and it's not looking good.

I think that the Dollar will devalue within three years to maybe even half it's present worth. Save every penny folks, and cut back on what you can.

I bought a gardening kit and started to grow veg at home with my kids. Making it fun for them and teaching them to be frugal.

Gawd! she is built like a football player! I bet she kicks Obama's skinny, little ass. lol~

Why wait until April?

Someday we will get a real animal lover in the W.H, with lots of homeless cats & dogs, whom stresses & passes laws about mandatory spaying/neutering. Enough of this ONE dog b.s that has to pass the allergy, cuteness ect. test(s)before living at the WH.

p.s, when I said why wait until April, I was wondering wait for what??? so many dogs and cats are being euthanized for NO reason, right now :( Word to Mrs.Obama! today is a great day to save a defenseless animal's life!

*Cheers for 6:11*

totally agree with you and if the media followed them to a shelter and they rescued an animal, think of all the people who would follow suite, more people would begin to view shelter animals as real, viable, safe family pets.

I think she is okay, doing this. When I get tired of seeing whomever is on the cover, I just don't buy the magazine. That's why I didn't allow my husband to subscribe to People for me. I don't always like what they're peddling.
I voted for Obama, and I like the whole family. I think they are waiting for April because they probably know of a litter being born in rescue, or know of a specific dog in rescue that isn't quite ready, yet. My mom got her golden from rescue, and she had to wade through red tape, and wait for her dog. Don't know if that's the case here, or not.
It scared me that the economic rescue plan was so lengthy, and the time so short, that no-one was able to read the entire thing through. How on earth can you make an informed decision without reading the bill?

Anonymous said...

Yes anon above. Especially since he asked for the TARP funds to be ready by the time he got into office.

So far I cannot get excited about what I see, simply because the pork,, and earmarks, and lobbyists, and lack of line by line scrutinizing of the bill went right out the window.

He urged the bill to get signed by that Friday, and did not sign it until Tuesday. Why not take the time to read it and debate it?.

6:51,it's unreal isn't it :( I agree that public figures could do so much to educate and inform the public about what happens to innocent cats & dogs in shelters. I signed the petition asking the Obamas to consider shelter pets but so far Obama has turned out to be a typical, politician, saying whatever he can do to get elected and then not doing anything!

At least the Bushes, esp. Laura & Jenna adopted shelter cats. As did the Regans and of course,Socks was a throw away that was saved by the Clintons.

Sigh... so the question is... Where do our public figures stand on animal welfare. I know that is so important to me,as animals have zero social programs and depend on us,humans.

After all their posturing as "just regular folks" the Obamas have clearly illustrated that by over-complicating the selection process of the White House family pet, the poor little critter is being chosen simply based upon ~IMAGE~.

I totally agree that the appropriate and conscientious method would be to have chosen a shelter animal. The message of such a gesture as the Obama family visiting a shelter together to choose their new pet would have been profound and most certainly global.

For that matter, they could bring home an entire menagerie of otherwise-doomed animals!
It's not as if ~THEY~ have to feed it, clean up after it, play with it, take it to the vet, worry about the expense, etc..
But, Hell-to-the-NO... that would never "do". Not for the new Commander-in-Chief. Expect to see plenty of such image-based decisions made over the coming years... everything from the schools the girls attend to their wardrobes (Out with the Gap! In with the Chanel-Kids!)lol

Obama's battlecry may have been "Time for a Change", but if this simple family decision is any indicator, his administration will certainly prove to be anything but.

Anon 1:57, 5:01 and 5:08,

"I am getting a little Obama fatigue with them constantly on every media outlet; and I voted for him!. I am scared about the economy and the pork getting added to every bill."

I feel for you guys but I have to say it, you get what you elect. I didn't like anyone (well, I did like Hillary) running this time but I did a lot of research on all the candidates and I wonder that other ppl did not and voted anyway. I saw this coming with Obama waaaaay down the road and it scared the beejeezus out of me. I got labeled a racist, at times, because I didn't like him and because I talked to ppl about their own choices. The writing *was* on the wall. It seems everything was there to see in his record and life and words. I fear this will only get worse.

And tacky, yes.

And don't even get me started on the dog choice.

cupcake;

I liked Hillary as well, but Obama promised no lobbyists, no special interest, line item veto, no pork/earmarks, and change. I fell for it and thought there was no way he would back out on his promises.

What a disaster of a fiscal beginning. Wall Street has no confidence in him or his cabinet picks, and the DOW reflects it. It is going to take a generation (our children sadly) to repay the entitlements he is pushing.

He can't blame Bush anymore because no money is going to fix the economy and he is adding two trillion dollars to a trillion dollar deficit. Instead of managing the debt and being fiscally responsible, the "stimulus" bill is pork filled and going to Gov subsidized programs. If you want immortality come back as a Gov program.

Welcome back Pres. Carter.

I too voted for Obama but was for Hillary. I now feel that she has sold out or sold her soul to Obama, whom I am deeply regretting voting for but the other choice was a total whack job.

I still like Sara Palin but I'm not that socially conservative,sooooo.... I am hoping for a socially liberal *woman* who isn't afraid to wear skirts, heels, lipstick and get their hair done, yet is fiscally, resposible, conservative and well... women just get shit done! It's time for a woman :) and if she's an animal lover, even better!

Since they haven't come out with details about the dog, how do we know it was not rescued/adopted? Seems to me that everyone is making assumptions too early about the dog and about Obama (he JUST got in...give it time to pan out). We knew he wasn't going to be perfect or deliver on EVERYTHING (none of them could) but let's give it time, we're barely into March!

Anonymous said...

i think one of the reasons they picked that breed was due to one of the girl's allergies to dogs...that would probably explain why they don't go to an animal shelter too...

maybe they're waiting til April to give themselves a few months of getting adapted to their new home, settling into routines, etc?? that seems plausible...

My husband said they should call the dog "bailout"....

Come on-- he made a spectacle and ran on change and hope. Now I just hope we can pay back what he is borrowing.

International monetary speculators are looking at this debt and shorting the Dollar because it is not feasible to maintain trillions of debt.

Get rid of the pork, fix Social Secutity and stop additional spending.

get rid of convicted tax evaders running US finances and get rid of presidents who send a billion dollars to Gaza during US recession

Anonymous said...

Right on!

900million dollars for gaza reconstruction?!! Most of that money is going to Hamas. Who do you think controls gaza?

Human rights watch filed a suit against Hamas fro torturing palestinians who refused to fight the Israelis. Al-Zawahiri urged Hamas to fight and not make peace. Now we will take over for Iran as an avenue of funds for more terrorists.
