RIP Cleta

I have a funeral to go to today. My mother in law passed away...should I say ex mother in law? I don't think so, you don't divorce family when you have kids. My MIL was an amazing woman, she was a hard working woman who raised a pack of kids, and they all turned out pretty good. You can't do much better than that in life. She always had a kind word, a sweet smile and never anything harsh to say to anyone. She was the best cook I ever knew, she always had her own garden. I put that picture up, not because it looks like her, but, because it feels like her. Unfortunately, I never learned to cook like that, but, I learned plenty of other things from her. I wish I'd had sense enough to learn more. She spent most of her time doing for her family and others, she was never idle. She belonged to community organizations, helping people she didn't even know. She managed to stay married to the same sweet man for more than half a century. Leave some good thoughts for my daughter, Casey, who's lost her beloved Grandma. I'll be back tomorrow.

Stay strong Casey. It's always hard to lose a grandma.Sounds like she was the kind of grandma that you were either so grateful to have or so envious of those who did.

Awww rest well Cleta! It's nice to remember the qualities that made a person loved and admired. Spirits are never far from their loved ones. (\o/)

I am sorry for your loss! That speaks volumes about the woman if an ex DIL can still speak so kindly of her! :)

Thanks, you guys. I'll be sure Casey reads this. My mother in law was the kind of person who should have been held up as an example of motherhood for the world, instead of people like Kate Gosselin. She always sat a good table and you were always welcome, with a hug, a pat on the back and words of grace and love. She was a heaping garden of fresh vegetables that we all raided and an in a pinch loving babysitter anytime we asked. She was a backyard with a pony for the grandkids and an audience for every ball game. She didn't need millions of dollars, she knew she already had it all.
