Lissy on the computer. Oh, she's always had her kitty and puppy pictures and she'd point and I'd open them for her, but, we've been working on motor skills and she's mastered the back button and her favorites files. She can't exactly read yet, but, she knows all the letters and the sounds they make, so LG means Lissa's Games, etc. Maybe this isn't a big deal to anyone else, but, it's huge to me. I'm so proud of her, I wish her Dad could see this. She's a lefty, just like he was. That's his old desk there. She hasn't told anyone she can work the computer all by herself yet, she wants it to be a surprise. She was so into the TeleTubbies website, I don't even think she knew I was taking her picture.

At school, we use www.starfall.com. It has lots of great stuff on there for beginning readers.
I also use www.pbskids.org, too. They can be kinda slow sometimes tho because of all the traffic they get.
About 30% of my computer time is spent with 2 and a 5-year-old boys perched on each knee.
Thank you for those links!!! Awww, kids on your knee, pretty cute. Lis has Chiari, she's been through a lot, and for her to learn this and come so far..well, I'm just lovin' it that the doctors were wrong and Granma was right. The kid is nobodys fool.
Good for her! I love it when a kid overcomes a bad impression or someone's preconceived notion about them. It takes a lot of power to do that.
I despise it when adults pigeon hole kids at such a young age. We've all been to class reunions... it's a fact that often the most successful people are the ones no one thought much of in school and many of the cool kids are filling today's trailer parks.
Oh, that's precious and you should be proud of that!! That's a huge accomplishment.
And her dad is there...
Dishy,
My 4 yr old likes go girls games, there are alot of different games on there that dont require reading, and she especially likes the make over games...
Snowbunnie
So happy for Lissa learning and for you doing so well by her.
her Dad knows!
nick kids has some good webgames....
My almost 4 yr old daughter loves "the mean kitty song" on youtube.
DD, your kid is sweet. My daughter has uncontrolled epilepsy. Her E just came out-of-the-blue, 6 months ago. We have spent a couple of weeks in two different Children's Hosp., getting set for brain surgery.
But, she is SO much more than a kid with seziures. Even though this situation sucks...I hate it when people feel sorry for us. Although, I know they are just being nice.
By the way, DD, I love your blog. You are hilarious. Dr. Phil, a "giant pile of ass hair"! LOL
shmedellem, you keep me posted about your little girl. We know a bit about brain surgery here, Lis has had 3 of them. I'll be thinking of your baby and will be glad to hear you post that she came though just fine. You can always email me and I'd do a post just on her, so every one can send good thoughts.

Wow, that is so kind of you guys. I will take you up on that...it has been so helpful to reach out to other parents.
A really nice lady, that I made contact with through the forums on epilepsy, has sent me pics of her kid after brain surgery. It really helps to know what to expect.
Pat the pics of Lissa are great, and yes she has come a longgggg way and YOU are the main reason she has been able to do it.
What a difference from those pics of her in the hospital etc... you always KNEW that the doctors were way off with their predictions..and you proved it....
hugsssssssssssss my friend....
Nadine
