Give me a good story about women, please! I don't care what color they are or what kind of hair they have. I search the net, bookstores, movie rental places for one good chick flick/chick story. No, they're all about men, action, car chases, blowing up things, robots, more men, bowling, bla bla. Come on Halle, I'm counting on you. PLEASEEEEEEEEE!

Frozen River.
why would she write a book called nappily ever after if she's spent her whole life trying to straighten her nappy hair?
nevermind. should've followed the link. can't they find someone to do it with natural, nappy hair though?
Frozen River is on my list. Thanks crab.
DD, try reading a book called The Lace Reader. I just finished it. Would give you the author's name, but I took it back to the library. Written by a woman and set in Salem, Mass. I think you'd enjoy it.
Halle Berry could read the phonebook and I'd watch...
How come she never acknowledges her mother, the one who raised her, only associating herself with her black father, who wasn't a part of her life.
If i was her mother i'd be hurt & offended.
The Lace Reader. Ok, I'll add it to my list of books to look for. Thanks.
An excerpt from The Lace Reader
“My name is Towner Whitney. No, that’s not exactly true. My real first name is Sophya. Never believe me. I lie all the time. I am a crazy woman, . . . That last part is true.”
Yeah, I think I'd like that one.
Halle Berry could read a phone book to me too and I would be happy as well...I think she's gorgeous.
DD..The Secret Life of Bees..not the movie, the book is a good read about women. It's well written and one of my favorites.
I've read that, seachelle. You're right, the book was excellent. The movie was just okay.

Marjane Satrapi
I think even Crabbie would love it.
The movie is great also.
Anon 4/21 8:55. Halle often has her mother with her. She goes to premiers with her(at least before her man came along), and she is a big part of Halle's life. Her name is Judith and I have seen many pictures of her. Her father deserted them when she was young, and Halle doesn't have ay contact with him.
Her mother raised her in the black community because Halle and sibs are black in appearance, and she needed to teach her the realoities of her life. I think she did a good job.
