Susan: ''Mum lived with me and she was my life - I cared for her.
'But she urged me to enter this show as she said I had a fantastic voice. So this year I thought I'd go for it - and I can't believe what has happened.''
She added: "I hope my mum and dad Patrick are looking down on me - they'll be so proud."
"I'll get used to the fame side of things with baby steps - one step at a time. I am enjoying it very much just now. It's very good. I'll take the fame in my stride."
Miss Boyle admitted she has never been on a date, or even been kissed. She is taking her fame cautiously, but, having a good time. You'll be kissed now, Susan, you charmer...you are magic. I think Simon's in love.

Surprise. I should've thought she'd have men all over her.
Eh...with that whole "that's just one side of me" with the hip roll...I think she's been on the hobby horse once or twice.
I hope she can handle all of the attention, good and bad, that is going to come her way.
She is amazing.
totally agree with 3.23, she's definitely rode her fair share of ponies in her village. Come on!
She has an amazing voice, and is quite obviously a very fun lady! I have NO DOUBT that she's been in a pub or two in her day. Good for her!
Awww, you cynical bastahds! I think she's been around too. She IS charming though.
She seems like an honest, sincere, caring, talented and modest human being. Maybe that is why all of us are so smitten with her. She's nothing like the rest of us and our prejudices, self-importance and arrogance.
Thank you Susan for showing some of the good stuff in life.
She seems to have a great outlook on life! That's a rare commodity in this
"day and age". I hope people are gracious enough to let her enjoy her fame without making crude comments about her appearence. A truly beautiful voice doesn't have to come in a beautiful package! What a great and wonderful surprise!
I believe she's never been kissed, as she said. Taking care of an ailing mom and dad, that's what has taken up her time. Do something with those eyebrows, fix that hair and give her some good clothes --- with that voice she should be on stage.
People do not need to bash this woman's physical appearance. She spent her life taking care of her family. Most people today do not even care about their parents let alone take care of them.
Most people wish they had an ounce of her talent and heart.
I'm in the minority it seems because i don't think for 2 seconds this woman has "been around", she's too socially aquward. I'm talking about her behaviour, comments, reactions etc, not her appearance.
It's pretty pathetic when an entire audience, present and watching EXPECTED a humilation before she even sang a note, based on what, hair thats 12 years older then she is and what initially was perceived as dimwitted esk aquwardness.
Few days of spa treatments, new hairstyle and color, a little coaching on how to walk in and present yourself on stage and she could ( and i think in time will be anyway) a sensation.
I hope she enjoys every moment of her new found attention and makes the most of every possibility ahead of her but gets some good people on her side as far as the industry goes & doesn't get taken advantage of.
I love her bumbling, humble happy presence and as DD said, once she takes a breath to sing she creates a magical moment that can't help but uplift.
I am in love with her! I was a puddle when she sang! I must have played the video a dozen times this morning. Cried every time!! The song is killer. She's the best. Everyone else should just go home now. And that was just her audition! Show over, go home people!!!
Fantastic - I had to listen to it twice, beautiful. Pluck her eyebrows, a new doo (a little lipo on the neck) and voila - a star is made! Gave me a lump in my throat like a good movie does.
I've played this over and over. Wow.
Her voice is like honey. I would give my two front teeth to be able to evoke that kind of emotion.
Regarding her looks, she doesn't need much. A two hour Maury Povich make-over would suffice.
Lose the black hose and white shoes. Tweeze the caterpillars, dye the hair, and yer good to go.
A voice like that is one in a million.
Question: Am I the only one out hear that dreams of a day when 'Leave your comment' has spellcheck? Christ I feel like a moron always having to have a window open with The Free Dictionary!
I'm in the minority it seems because i don't think for 2 seconds this woman has "been around", she's too socially aquward.
........
Too socially aqward, why? Because she stumbled a bit on stage in front of millions? Jesus Christ, cut her some slack!
Shmedelle (minority poster here) Not because she stumbled on stage, based on other interview snippets, the way she reacted, things she said etc. It's not a critism it's an observation. Apparently you don't know exactly what socially aquward means.
I think she's charming and uplifting, a breath of fresh air that makes you smile inspite of yourself.
But i suppose you think it's perfectly fine to lable her as having been around? Talk about narrow minded & even less understanding.
Even before the show really gets going Simon Cowel is going to help her & is working on getting record deal for her!
3 cheers for Simon!
The word is AWKWARD, people!
awk·ward (ôk′wərd)
adjective
not having grace or skill; clumsy, as in form or movement; bungling an awkward dancer, an awkward style
No one was SLAMMING this woman, just commenting. She's from a village in the hinterlands of England, spent her best years carefully tending her parents, and yes...she is AWKWARD!! I hope she gets a jillion dollars and is able to enjoy the remainder of her days in peace!
Her voice gave me goosebumps!! Amazing- what a gift.
I loved watching Simon's face during her performance. I have to admit, he looked h o t.
No one has to worry about spelling in here. Speeling, sppoling. spadoodle.
Sorry, DD. I'm an editor and sometimes it just leaks out! I'll try to refrain from offering corrections in the future.
She may be a bit backwards...but the Brits can hold their own in humor and comebacks. She is adorable just as she is...
