Cause she got tired of people making fun of her, no doubt. And now of course people are ripping her for being a phony. They wanted her to be some kind of role model for ugly no-style chicks and they think she's betrayed that. Sure. Cause if it were them, they would've stuck to their principles and put up with the ridicule. Wrong. They would've done the same exact thing Susan has done, because Susan has at least a shred of self-respect, and now she's got a little dough too. Actually, I'm starting to wonder if the whole thing wasn't a set-up. The Now, Voyager routine seems a bit too convenient for me. Some pics are gonna surface, methinks, showing Susan in glamour-puss mode, and everyone will know it was all a Simon Cowell mastermind job. And there's no way that chick hasn't been ridden. She's been ridden, slapped, bitten, gone down on, everything else you care to name.

I read in People that she was "deprived of oxygen at birth". Nice way to say she is a tiny bit slow. Almost like a savant with her voice.
But, she has been in same home all her life, going to the same pub for a lemon soda once a day. Not exactly the making of a slut in hiding. I'm not even sure she would continue with a big career if she did win.
Besides, Simon's look of surprise was way too real when he heard her first time!!
She took care of her blind mother until the mother died, and sang in the church choir. She is "developmentally slow."
Even if Simon discovered her and then set her up to be on the show, that doesn't detract from her sensational voice and kind self.
To paraphrase the estimable judge of America's Got Talent, the one and only David Hasselhof, "She's what this competition is all about!!" Good for her, slow or not. She has a good heart and a wondrous talent.
I've actually known a couple of extremely sheltered and shy women who have stayed at home and taken care of their parents until they died. These two women aged quickly and almost took on the age and appearance of their own moms. I think this might be the case with Susan. She is blessed with that wonderful voice and I, for one, am glad she's getting a lot of attention. She looks much better in her new duds, too. The other dress, the one on the show, was probably mommy's old dress. P.S.: I don't think she's slow.
she did say she was kidding about never being kissed. She has a good voice how cares good for her.
Well, we ALL thought she needed a make-over...
I say good for her. She has had a quiet life serving others, maybe 15 minutes of fame won't be too bad. She is so talented, I truly hope she gets her dream.

She looks pretty much the same, just fixed up a bit. She is still very recognizable. No big deal. She looks good in those pants. I wish we could watch her on Britains Got Talent!
Slow??? No way. I heard her speak, how she thought out her comments to the judges. She is not at all slow. Maybe nervous for a minute, but not slow. Who the hell is saying that? Gawd, they can't just leave her alone. Now, she has to be slow. Dayum. Not true.
She may be a little bit socially inept, she will learn how to behave in public with the world watching. I am sure that would take some getting used to. I would seem slow in that spot too. You can't help but have the jitters and seem nervous.
Remember, she comes from some little backwards little village...so no sophistication need be expected. I bet she will just be a breath of fresh air.
It's not like she had implants, tummy tuck, face lift, etc! She is a breath of fresh air and I think her new look is just the right amt. of touching up!

Glad she colored her grey, it was making her look 10 years older then what she is.
I don't even think this clothing is 'new for a makeover', all we've seen her in is the dress she wore on the show and it was a nice outfit, and what she's wearing in this pic looks very much in keeping with that.
So she colored her hair, had the brows plucked and maybe a blow dry styling, big deal, it's not exactly excessive like Ome Omy pointed out.
Theres nothing stupid or slow about the woman, she is however socially challenged but after some exposure that might change to a degree.
I love her and I'm so happy she's taking care of herself. She probably never had anyone to look good for before so she never tried. Now she's apruced herself up reasonably and she looks great! I'm so happy for her and she probably feels a million times better about herself!

She isnt anything special. There are billions of people in this world that have nice voices but look like hell. They come a dime dozen, she just happened to get noticed.
This totally is Now Voyager all the way! I saw a video of her singing at a party from 25 years ago and she looked EXACTLY as she does now with the exception of a bad, short, tight perm.
