TMZ is reporting that The Pennsylvania Department of Labor is investigating whether "Jon & Kate Plus 8" is complying with child labor laws.*
TLC issued a statement saying they comply with the laws. We all know the laws don't protect reality child stars like they do child actors. I don't expect anything to come of this, but, at least people are finally becoming aware that what Jon and Kate do is not entertainment.

Jon and Kate are also under heavy fire for potentially committing financial fraud with their schemes. PA Attorney General Tom Corbett could file a case against them, if he so chooses, but, he's said it would only hurt the children. Citizens are outraged that someone could break the law, in effect stealing great amounts of money and get away with it because they have 8 kids. You can read about that HERE.

Kate is a sociopath and a narcisistic one at that. The world revolves around her and she honestly can not feel anything that isn't hurting her. It is a sad condition, but I've known a few people in my life who had the same problem. Ran away from both eventually.
A ponzi scheme is like a pyramid in that the person running the scheme is collecting money and paying off the first investors with the 2nd investors' money (and paying himself as the original investor). He, the person running the scam, never "invests" in anything. The investors just trust him to do so and believe he is doing it. It all comes down when the people who have most recently "invested" in the scheme catch on that they have nothing to show for the money they've handed over.
So while Kon is definitely a lying sack of shit conning couple, I don't see this as ponzi. They conned those they could, particularly church goers, because that's the life she knew as a preacher's daughter. Now I don't mean to say all PK's are like that, but I think she learned how to manipulate the system and the people within it. Jon, having not an original thought in his head at the time, thought hell, yeah, sounds good to me.

Here is a link to the "Ponzi Scam" chart. It still is not really a Ponzi scheme, the Gosselins didn't ask anyone to invest in anything. It's just plain old fraud, they went to churches, told a (false) tale of financial woe and asked for handouts, which amounts to criminal fraud in the state of PA.
I think ever since the Madoff story made big news people just like to use the phrase "Ponzi" to refer to any kind of fraud in general, not realizing that it actually refers to a specific type of fraudulent scheme.
