BeeBee has company

Casey is visiting and she brought my nephew, Logan yesterday. He ended up spending the night and we all camped out in the living room. I used to have Logan on weekends while his mom worked, but, then he got bigger and they moved to the country so I don't see him as often. It was such a nice surprise to spend some time with him, I can't believe he's 11 years old. He told me he can reach the pedals on his dad's truck now. And he LOVED BeeBee. She liked him too and begged part of his breakfast this morning. Now he's gone home to beg his mom for a rat of his own. We'll have to see how that goes. She doesn't like rats, but, she's never met Bee. Bee could change anyone's mind about rats because she's so friendly and clean.

Rats are clean and smart. I don't know why they creep people out the way they do.

OT. I have a root canal today and nobody to share that with.

I'm considering a rat for my son who is pet obsessed. I told him to prove he can look after himself - hygenically speaking - and I'll consider a pet. So far I see no need to run out and start looking. I still have to tell him to brush his teeth when he leaves the house.

It's nice you got to catch up with your nephew.

If you get a rat for your son, I'd suggest a female. Casey has a male and he's sweet and HUGE, but, stinky. She has to give him baths. I don't know why, but, boy rats will pee on themselves. Bee would just die of embarassment if she smelled like that.

ICK..root canal! Oh, man, I hope you feel better soon.

I'm a fan of having a rat for a pet...Mostly because I'm scared of them but your BeeBee is sooooo cute!

I can see being scared of them, Naseem, but, if they are hand raised they'd no more bite than a dog or cat. They're nice easy pets.

I think Bee-Bee is adorable.

I just read this to my 10 year old, pet-obsessed, hygienically-challenged child.

I might not be getting a rat any time soon either!

Bee's relatives cost me 2K a while back--just to get rid of them and not counting damage. I was away for a couple of weeks and while I was gone I got roof rats. They chewed and caused a flood. Bee must be the exception to "cute rats". ;-) They ain't cute in my book!!!

Wild rats are not cute. I can not tell you how much I hate those things. They are vile and nothing like pet rats.

It's kind of like comparing a rabid wolf to a yorkie.

I think rats are cute. However, I did get bit by one before when I worked at a pet store. Ouch. They have razor sharp teeth. The rat that bit me was pregnant and just defending herself I guess. There was a huge male rat in that cage too. He was the size of a small chihuahua. (they were used as feeder rats :( (not the huge big guy though.)

That's a tough sell for me, DD!
As for the root canal, I feel for you, I've had my share of those. OUCH!

Have been lurking for some time now and have to say I love this site DD! About the rat debate.... My eldest daughter has 2 of them. Both females that she named Thelma and Louise. At first I was nervous about being around them but when she and hubby decided to take a trip to Chicago I volunteered to check in on her felines and the above mentioned rodents. After I took them out of their cage and started playing with them I realized just how smart and funny the little buggers were. Now when I go vist daughter I insist on playing with the rats.
I also want to say I just love your garden pics and all the funny, witty things you and the rest of the bloggers say on this site. It's really one of the highlights of my day to come here!

THank you Matilda, love your name.

Ha Ha! It's not my real name. Hubby calls me Matilda all the time just to be funny. But yeah, I think it has a nice ring to it!

I love rats! I had three pet rats when I was a teenager. They are not gross or mean at all. They will sit on your shoulder like parrots. I always got annoyed when people would say rats are dirty or diseased. The funny thing is, most of those people let their kids have pet hamsters. IMO rats are much nicer than hamsters. I have had hamsters and they will bite your fingers practically to the bone if you surprise them even slightly.

8:23:00 PM yeah! Hamsters can bite too, but, everyone has one of those.

Frimmy, ow, I hope you're feeling better soon! I love your fat pics, she's so cute! Every hamster I've ever had has been a biter. Not fun

I think she (bee) is cute. She looks like a little chinchilla. My little boy had a little white mouse once. I didn't think I would like the little fella when he got him, but cried when he died 3 years later. You wouldn't think you could get attached to things like that, but you do. Yep, Bee is a sweetheart.

Dirty Disher said...

Yep, LisaK, you can get attached to the strangest things. I had a tarantula for seven years.

I'm glad there are those that love rats, spiders or whatever else, but sadly I'm not one of those. I'm glad BeeBee has a good home like yours though. He seems very happy & well taken care of.
