Check out Angus

This is Angus and he knows he's important and he is tired of not being featued on here. I don't blame him, he IS important. Look at that face, you can tell he's loyal and loves to have fun. He's the kind of dog who always stops me in my tracks and makes me fuss over them. Hi, Angus wangus beautious puppy wuppy! Thanks, Elizabeth.

LOL, thanks Pat! I tried to show Angus, but he's preoccupied... Sam is chasing him in circles around the couch... He says thanks too, I'm sure!

Connie-- He is a Lab/Pit/Akita mix... I gave my input when Pat posted about your dog search last week... He is great with my 15 month old daughter Sam. We got him from a shelter when he was just about a month & 1/2. We planned it that way so that he and Sam would kind of grow up together. So far it's working out great. He's very patient with her and tolerable of her (we're still working on teaching her to "be gentle" LOL).

Most people immediately think he's aggressive because he's very strong/muscular and he looks like a pit in the face, but it's the exact opposite. Like I said last week, I think all dogs are a product of their environment, so even though he may 'have it in his blood' he was raised as a kid friendly family dog. He might as well be my middle child (the cat being the oldest). Also, we started training him from day 1, which really helped, I'm sure.

Angus burger! I love him! He needs kisses!

As long as the Akita & Pit dont take over his actions. If he has enough lab in there to balance, he will be ok. If he gets aggressive it would be such a shame.
Akita=Nicole Brown Simpson. 1st thing I thot of!! How hers wandered around whining & crying for help. Tracking blood everywhere. Gawd...the poor dog.

Anon 3:17 I am not the slightest bit worried about that happening. He could be 100% Akita and I still would not be worried. It's not how he was raised.

Anon 3:03 that's what we call him! lol

Anon 3:07, there's no such thing as a problem breed. Don't paint a bad picture on Akitas and Pitbulls please. It's the owner's responsibility to build their dog's character properly. Bad irresponsible owner makes a bad and aggressive dog.

Biz your dog is adorable!!!! Makes me miss my Zelda....a big dumb sweet rottweiler...... but I wanna reach out and pet Angus >heesokewt<...I love big dogs. I love to wrestle with them :)

I have neighbors with pitbulls and those two are the corniest, lovebugs ever. They come running at you looking like they'd eat you for breakfast and all they want is a bellyrub.

They also love and play perfectly with my four dogs. Someone once warned me to never let the yorkie or cairin terrier near them because small dogs trigger a prey instinct in them. These pups never got that memo because they love the tiny dogs and even clean them up when they lay down after a romp.

Some dogs are just born nuts though, like people. My St. Bernard had pups once and one of them was just mean. He was never abused or neglected, he was just born mean. A city junkyard owner finally took him. He called me once and told me the dog did his job, but, is no one's pet, never will be. I was just glad he didn't have to be destroyed, but, it just shows ya. When a dog is 300 pounds and hates everyone, it aint pretty.

Yeah, that can happen, but it's not exclusive of one or other breed, like you say some are just not meant to be pets, don't have the personality, or just don't like anyone. It just irks me when they lump a dog into the mean/aggressive sack just because it's a certain breed.
