This is my next door neighbor on the South sides house. Cheryl. She has the most awesome big Asparagus patch and she planted it right beside the front walk. It's actually very pretty. She keeps her huge compost pile in the front yard too, and her pickup with junk in it, which she parks OVER the sidewalk, because she doesn't give a fat fuck and she'll tell ya so too. And if you're mouthy about it, she'll run you over with her Harley. I like her a lot. We get along just fine.

Nice view of the Guntown grain bins there. And that little dark blue house was my Grandma's house (Aunt Ruth won it playing Keno), now it's my cousin Leta's house. And the other one was my Aunt Juanita's but, she sold a romance novel and moved to Vegas and told us all to move there because she knew ALL the movie stars and then she moved back here and now lives across the street from us and makes us all miserable every chance she gets, which is all the time, because she's right across the fucking street.

It looks so lush and green. I never knew that asparagus got so BIG!
Does she let you go picking?
That is so much that she could not possibly be able to eat it all. I mean she could freeze and can it..but her family would probably get really sick of it.
I started my own asparagus patch this year. It is doing really well. It will be a couple seasons before I can enjoy it but when it is ready..I will.
DD you made me laff about your aunt Juanita
driving you all nuts cuz she moved back and
lives across the street ! F N funnieeeee=D
& the asparagus looks like giant dill ;) kiki
I wish I had more time to post about Cheryl. She was married to this real nice guy, but, he was a Nam vet and he had bad flashbacks. He went out to the fence that borders our yards and sat in a lawnchair and shot himself in the head one night. It was real sad. Then Cheryl had to kids to raise alone. She took some of the insurance money and turned their small frame house into a two story barn house and all the bitches were gossiping about her living in a giant barn. But, she always wanted to live in a barn house, so I admired her for it. She bought the empty lot next door from my mom and started a huge garden that feeds her, her family and half of Guntown. She's finally got a dencent boy friend now and they fix cars in her big garage and they make a decent living doing it and she helps out all kinds of people in this crummy neighborhood.
Heidi, my step-mother blanches all her fresh veggies, then vacu-seals them. Her and my Dad have fresh vegs. all winter long. Asparagus sure tastes great on a cold winter night in Feb.
that's asparagus?? i thought it was little, not big and fern like!
I don't know what it's like in other places, but, here it gets very big. It's lacy and beautiful. In the fall, you burn it off. It helps next years crop.
It gets very big here too Pat. Now I want some.
Me too. I have to get a bed in in August if I want some next Spring. More work.
