That's the neigbor kid's hidey hole. Boy were they pissed off when I started clearing out the yard here. Those little kids had actually taken machetes and wacked themselves a path in here and it was their secret place. I was sorry to take it away, kids need a hide out, but, it was really bad and I couldn't mow. So, I just cleared it enough to manage with the mower and left the bird seed sunflowers to help hide the hidey hole. There's lawn chairs in there now and a birdbath and feeder. I told the kids they could still play there. I think they're still mad about it though. I found a lap top computer in there and a bunch of kids clothes. I don't want to know why they took off their clothes in there.

I would not want to know why they took off their clothes either. UGH!
Yeah. Those are the kids that sneak out the window at night. They're like 9 and 11. And they always have a cousin with them, she's 9 or 10.
Yikes! ICK!!!
Huh. You're way nice. I would have told them to stay the hell off of my property.
I remember nice people who let me play in their yards when I was little. Payin' back. Mom's still mad at them for chopping down one of her trees, but, I said, kids do stuff like that. I asked them not to do that again and they haven't.
Did you keep the computer??
Of course not, that's inviting bad karma. It had been rained on, but, I took it over and set it on their porch..along with the mildewed clothes.
depending on your tolerance of the kids, next year you might engage them in some gardening in their hidey hole...they could plant some shade loving plants....you might plant the seed of gardening in them (haha...couldn't help the cliche!)
You're sweet Tia, but, I don't hang out with kids ('cept my own). It aint my thing. They annoy me.
At that age I made a hiding place outdoors as well, when I felt I needed to run away I would go there...I had plenty changes of clothes, and canned food.
I am familiar with that kind of hiding. These kids aren't abused, they're just wild. I'm glad for that.
i wish i lived somewhere where my kids could run around and hide and i wouldn't be a nervous wreck about it. I'm in a county outside Baltimore, and even though it's nowhere near as bad as the inner city , the economy has definitely caused a rise in crimes around here. Plus there's always someone walking up my street no matter what time of day.
That must be hard. At least this hick place is mostly safe.
