Lilies

We have lots of Lilies, I like them, they're hardy, and the foliage is always pretty, so they always look good. Mom gets them all confused, she can't tell an Asian Lily from a Day Lily. These are Day Lilies. The yellow ones are a hybrid, the orange ones are wild. I dug them up from a ditch. They grow crazy here in Iowa and every country road has a big stand of them. People always call them Tiger Lilies, but, they're just wild Day Lilies. They spread like crazy. A good plant to look for if you're broke, you can always find a pick up truck load for free. They can cover a whole block area in two years. I mow them down when they get out of hand. That yellow one is creamy and very pretty. Day Lilies are awesome in trouble spots that you don't want to mow all the time, like hills.

Come on over, I still have two couches (it drives my mom nuts) so you can find a place to sleep..lol. Send me pictures of where you live. I'll bet it's pretty and you don't have to mow like I do.

My Mom used to call the wild ones, Outhouse lilies. She kind of ruined them for me by calling them that. Now all I think about when I see them is shit.
But I do have them in my yard. LOL

Don't have a digital camera and don't have a scanner. Hell, I barely know how to run this 'puter. But you are right. No mowing but lots of tree trimming and the big trim was last summer so won't have that job again for a few years. I am located about 50 miles north of Denver and most people who move here want to have the Rocky Mtn views. Not me, I live in the foothills of those mtns and have a wonderful view of "poverty flats". Can't wait till tomorrow night. The free firework show from hell. Get the shows from 5 cities!!!

What in the world is poverty flats?? Sounds like home.

Outhouse Lilies, yep. We always had flowers around the outhouse thanks to Grandma. Have you guys ever seen the Naked Lady Lilies? We have lots of those, I'll post them when they bloom. They're really bizarre because they have no folliage. They stick straight up out of the ground. They should be popping up soon.

Poverty flats is a made up name made one night in a druken stupor and represents all those people who live down there in the little covenant contolled communites having to bow down to those damn covenant nazis

Ahhh, thanks.

The yellow ones look like Stella D'oro day lilies. Love them. I just had an orange day lily bloom in my front yard today!
