We have Garden Phlox and Wild Phlox that comes up all over. When it comes up somewhere I can mow around it, I leave it. Most of it is purple or lavender, but, we have some pink and white too. It smells good and it's well behaved.*
Middle pic...there's a variety with a white star in the middle, blooming in the Budelia.

Bottom pic..There's some wild phlox that came up under a tree and it did what it had to to survive so it grew real tall and then bloomed. People keep asking me what kind of trees these are? Phlox trees..lol. That tree is volunteer too and I don't know what it is, but, it grew to be 8 foot tall in one season and it bloomed like a honeysuckle in Spring.

We have wild Sweet William too and they look a lot like Phlox, but, they bloom in Spring, so they're done now. I'd save seeds, but, you never have to here, they just pop up all over.

Spam. Idiot spam.
That thing is a bot, Nissa. Ignore it.
Never would have believed Iowa could look so lush. It really is a beautiful, fertile place. I guess I thought of it as "the dust bowl", just many ,many farms and just dusty. Don't know why.
I don't know what Nissa and DD are talking about but Maureen, you should see the Iowa ditch weed ROTFLMAO
Whew that is a relief! I thought the Thailand police had already found you!;)
I used to have some of those kind. They would bloom every time the red buds bloomed in the spring, and they matched in color, until the hubs killed them, and I do not know how he managed to do that, but he did. Anyway, they WERE pretty.
Nissa- I love your picture btw.
Hi DD, how long have you been interested in flowers and vegetable growing?-learning a lot from your posts here.
What have you noticed about how you feel since you started eating those homegrown meals?- just curious; feel free to tell me to f-off.

Thanks! It took about 100 shots to get that one, if you look close I am almost pinning him down :)
I love Phlox, they make a pretty fence between neighbors too.
Maureen, Iowa IS farms. And tiny little towns spaced about 20 miles apart with nothing but farms in between. Fields and fields, but, at the end of every field is what we call a fence line or tree line. The name is deceptive, these are sometimes large areas, many connected as a wilderness and this is where our wild life exists. Where river and streams boil through it and beavers build huge dams and non indigenous cougars feed on the worlds largest population of white tailed deer. It can be very beautiful..if someone is willing to look.
Jarhead, I loved working in the garden with my Gram when I was very little. I grew up with gardens. I tried gardening when I was young, but, I was too busy living to really do it right. Now I am older and only work part time so It's working out for me. As for feeling better from eating this home grown stuff? I don't really know, I like it, it tastes good and it's free so now I can buy more cigaretts..LMAO!
