There's a before and after. I like it. I wish I'd taken a real before picture. It was so ugly, the remains of an old broken building. I marched out there whipped into shape, but, I couldn't remove the foundation. My philosopy about life is, if you can't whip it, you can hide it. I've done it all my life. Make do, think of something nice and pretty instead of what's really there and then..make it happpen. Sometimes the things you hate and can't change can turn out to be something that makes you proud and makes you happy to look at. It's odd, isn't it?

The Cosmo's never did bloom. It's just an odd year for Cosmos. That's okay, they make a real nice backing and there's no reason to be mad at them. They're doing the best they can. I see a few blades of grass in there, it's evening now, so I'm going to go pull them.

Old foundations are what we build upon, are they not? As ugly as they may be, they can be turned into something beautiful. I think it is a lovely metaphor. (Now, can you please pop round my place and whip it into shape? My green thumb is a dull chartreuse at best.)
Awww, I wish I could. That'd be fun.
Pat, please check back at my blog (http://mysticmethwhore.blogspot.com/). I've taken down the nasty stuff and put up an apology. You don't have to read it but I meant it. Every word.
I'm sorry.
Kayla.
Very pretty indeed! Everything looks so fresh and nice. You did a great job Pat!!!
I didn't even know it was a foundation, I thought it was edging for a border. It looks beautiful! I can't believe the dif between the first pic and second...luv it luv it!!
when you started LQ, I thought - eh... but you've done some amazing work and I didn't think I'd enjoy the posts as much as I do. I think the pics are key, you have a way with your photos :)

These photos of your garden remind me
of a line from the theme song from Jericho.
"What kind of world do u want ?
Think anything. Let's start at the start and
build a m a s t e r p i e c e !
You have quite the talent in your green thumb!
the band who sings this song is called
5 for fighting
it may be on YouTube
I think if u search and add Jericho it will be there.
wow, it is truly beautiful!! I have to admit - i never thought it could look that pretty! Your backyard must be an oasis by now!
Pretty! It's a good talent to be able to take what you have and make it into what you want. Not just surviving, but thriving, and beautiful to boot.
That's exactly what I want my yard/garden too look like. Lots of flowers with a wild unkept magical feel. Assuming I don't kill everything that is.
You built yourself a raised planting bed on that foundation silly
It's so beautiful. I just love it, DD.
Pat - feeling compelled to send you good wishes and thoughts. Hope you are well!
Thanks Bella, I liked your comment. I liked it that you went "eh" at first. When I first looked at the yard, I said "Oh, fuuuuuuuuuck, no." LMAO! but, it's getting there.
funny :) my "eh" was more like...ok, I'm going to leave an awesome snarky blog to read about a garden? but I actually love the evolution you've made. it feels very peaceful.
THAT IS AMAZING.
seriously, i am blown away. great job pat =)
Thanks. I just think we can talk about anything. I don't know any celebrites, unless you count Dawna Lee. So it was all so superficial. I got tired of it.
Eric would be so amazed and proud to see what you have done with the place.
What's up with Cosmo's this year? Mine didn't do well at all. One bloom and then died. They did smell wonderful.
He really would, Clarabelle. He hated the way mom's place looked and he rented dumpsters trying to clean it up, but, you have to keep on it everyday with a hoarder and he was young and busy.I think he'd be amazed.
Peg, beats me..some of the ones in the side yard are seven foot tall and no blooms. Odd.
Wow! What a transition! Beautiful.
maybe the cosmos are not liking the 'cosmos' enough to bloom this year???
haha...punny, couldn't help it....
wonderful transformation!!!! i love before/after pix!
That is gorgeous. You truly have a knack for working with nature.
