Ridiculous things, an assortment

Dinner is a Chocolate Malt O Meal in a 70's stoneware bowl. I found a whole set of that dinnerware someone had thrown out on trash day, but, I only took the bowls. That's all I needed. It's funny how a color will be in and then out and then in again, isn't it? I went to the store after work and I filled my pantry with things normal people have (and I never have)..I bought corn starch and baking powder and oats and flour that isn't 4 years old and a bunch of stuff. I even bought bread crumbs. So, now if I get inspired, well, there it is. I'd never had Malto Meal, but, it was in with the oats and stuff and it looked good. It was good. I'm glad I bought it. BeeBee liked it too. I always share my meals with Bee.

When I was putting the groceries away, I was struck by the absurdity of the Zuchs. They are taking over. I have a friend who loves to cook and I talked her into making Zucchini bread today, so I got rid of some of them. She even thought it was her idea. I'm crafty when I have to be. But, look at that. Geeez. Still too many and I haven't checked the plants today. I'm afraid to.

I found that book at the shop. Here's a tidbit: To keep a dog close to home, bury some of his hair by the door. Tail hair is best.

Yum, zuchini bread! Geez, I haven't had malt o meal since I was a kid.

It's neat seeing the wrappers in your fridge. Such a difference in product labeling from Michigan to Iowa I guess. You forget that things you enjoy may not be available everywhere.

I shopped HyVee when I lived in Omaha

Not much choice here. It's a tiny town.

Zuchini bread is something I've never tried. Is it a sweet bread or like a grain bread? Don't laugh, I have no idea.

Wait until everything starts maturing at the same time. You can always set up a stand in your front yard. Lis would love that.

Hey, I've never made it either, but, I've eaten it. It's sweet. Kind of a dessert bread. It's good.

I might set up a free stand in the yard. Seriously. I hate waste and I only have a small freezer. By August I am going to have tons of tomatos and zuchs and corn too. I know the melons can find homes.

ohhh...I LUV zuchini bread! Gonna have to bake some soon. Anon 9:22 its kind of like a spice bread or carrot bread. The zuc gives it a really nice texture.

I have never had chocolate Malt-o-meal. The regular kind, yes. Is the chocolate any good?

I love Hyvee. It is maybe a bit pricier than Price Chopper or Dillons, but it's always clean and the staff is always friendly. I'll pay more for nice people.

There's a recipe somewhere that I have for chocolate zucchini cake. Yummy!

I love that colour it's my favourite. Charteuse - that's what my Crayola crayons told me. I love that it's 'in' right now. I'm buying up as much of it as I can.

I like baking zuchs with cheddar, diced tomatoes and green onion. I love zuch bread and muffins.

I never in my life heard of malt o meal. Looks good in the bowl though. Your veggie posts always make me feel happy.

I live in the Ozarks and I am kinda courious about that book. Sitting by the yummy Malt-0-Meal.
They are old rolling mountains with a Giant Lake in the Valleys. We call it the Mid-west Coast. Has more Coastline than California.

I'll send it to you, Noelle. Or keep it until you visit. It's amusing.

What's wrong with me? I have no idea what malt o meal is. I never heard of it. Lucy, splain to me, please.

Since you have tons of tomatoes and zuchs the best thing to make is ratatouille.
I love both the tossed and layered kind. So easy to make and dilicious with fresh vegatables from the garden.
Love it with Pita bread.

Ooh, just image googled "ratatouille" ... mmm... looks yum!

Oh, HyVee whipped cream. I so miss HyVee stores. We don't have them in Illinois.

Coyote, malt-o-meal is a hot cereal, you'll find it in the oatmeal aisle, it's malted wheat flour. It says to cook it in water, but I cook it in milk. Tastes better.

zucchini bread is the texture of banana bread or pumpkin bread. Good breakfast food. I put raisins and chopped walnuts in it. I made a few loaves the other day.

It is really good!

I know what Malt O Meal is but I have never had it. We are a Cream of Wheat family.
Or steel cut oatmeal..Mmm!

Zuchinni bread is the BEST! Lots of walnuts!!! So, the 1st thing I did was notice the name brands of your groceries. I live in Indiana, isn't it funny how the name brands change from state to state? I have never seen the stuff you have before, by those names. Thats interesting. My friend in Alaska is moving to Barrow. It's the northern most point in north america. I know, she's insane. Anyway, nothing gets there but by plane. Doritos are $10 a bag, Milk is $17 a gallon, small notepad $4, everything is probably more than 4x normal price, IF you can find it. No liquor either! Dry town. Yea, riiight!!! haha. Sorry, how did I get started on this?! OH yea, enjoy the free groceries and the bounty! Some free people dont have any of that, ever!!

DD this might be a stupid question, regarding the dog hair, what happens if you move? you know, we're still renting and I hope to God we get out of NJ soon, so, does that matter at all???

Thanks :)

Dirty Disher said...

If I move, the dogs will probably die of dehydration.

LOL..I meant me, if I bury the dog hair by the front door, what will happen when we move? Will Angus forever be tied to this house?
