There's Peg in front of me, trying to find a way in. It gives you an idea. This wasn't a few feet either, it was a long way through this. It got dark towards the house, from all the shade. Naaa, no one would put that out front, near the road. I have no clue. It's rather cool though. If you know, please share. I've never seen one before. How do you get to these houses? I mean, are you basically trespassing? I'd love to explore old abandoned houses but I'm afraid I will be arrested.
In Iowa it's not illegal as long as there are no signs posted telling you No Tresspassing. We wouldn't go into a place that was posted and we don't break locks. Most of them are open. This one..we can tell we are the only visitors in years. No one even mows there anymore.
I have to add..we really try to be respectful, no matter how bad the place looks. It was still someone's home once, and we remember that. We rarely even disturb anything, even to look at it. But, I admit I get so curious. I took a calender once. Still have it.
I live in a much more anal state than Iowa. I think everything is illegal here. But there are plenty of old places out in the rural areas. I will do some research on this.
My excuse for that was the roof had fallen in, the rain would have ruined it anyhow.

I think the key part is to be respectful. I feel if you are the opposite and trash these places, well, you stir up some ugly shit, and not just with the living.
of course you should be respectful and I certainly would be. I am also just curious about what the house looks like and what was left behind. If there was a time machine I would be first in line for a ticket. But a cop wouldn't care one way or the other. He'd just haul my ass off to jail.
Those are the best shots I could get of the oustside. There's no where to stand back and get a shot. You can't move around in there, too thick.

We got into a bad place once. We both had trouble and I was put off exploring for a long time. The experience lasted after we left..and it wasn't good. Long time. Now I'm ready again.
I am still bascially new here..so want to ask, do you feel any energy from this old house? Or do you need to be able to get closer to the house itself to see/feel anything?

Tricia, occasionally I see it. We both know how to spot it. I have a problem with Poison Oak, very bad reaction, but, that's rare here. You know the rule..leaves of three, let it be.

I always watch out for wasps and cotton mouths. THose are way worse than itchy skin.
It's alright DD, I have done bushwhacking in shorts and flipflops around here when walking the cat in the woods...but I'd love to explore your neck of the woods....ohhhhh endless photo ops....yeah the nettles suck weenie. You need to come over too, and see the oldgrowths, there's a cedar that's about 1200 years old, and a spruce that's about 1000. They are both the world's largest sitka spruce and red western cedar. I haven't seen them myself - yet, only in pics. (did you get my boot e-mail?)

Oh I saw an interesting TV article on Evening Magazine here in WA, about the Watersville Spooklights. the article is 3 years old, but I saw it tonight for the first time. Of course they are trying to scientifically explain them.

I would take it too. I remember long ago (like I am an old fart) that Yankee magazine used to have an monthly article called something like What is it? People would post pics asking what the hell a certain thing is. I looked on their website and I did not see it anywhere. I think they got rid of that article.
