Trump Tower..Guntown

This place is a few houses down from me. When I was a kid we thought it was a mansion. It could still be fixed up, but, it will probably be burned down by the fire department. Kids have knocked out the windows and the Trumpet Vine has blocked the doors. I think it's still a sweet old house, with magical old trees. I wish I could buy it and fix it up the way it used to look. Oh, well, anyway, the Trumpet Vine is beautiful and aggressive and free for the digging.

My grandmother aka Nanny would have loved that Trumpet Vine.

how much would a house like that go for? just curious.

I wish I could be there, even though that looks like some serious bushwhacking.

A house like that could probably be flipped depending on the gut condition. I would love to do something like that. I would like to take an old house and make it new or more up to date. It would be fun.

A neighbor bought it at an auction for around 5 grand. I think he's going to have it burned and put in parking for his trucks.

What a charming house. I can just imagine how you could bring it to life with paint and a garden. Such a shame that it will be burned down. I'm glad that you have a picture. I think it's such a worthwhile venture to restore a house--just imagine the history that has occurred within its walls.

I love old houses, they have such character. It is sad that they are allowed to fall into such despair.

Pat, you take the most amazing pictures. And it so damn green where you live. I am jealous. But on a serious note, you should do a photo book or magazine for all your pictures. I would buy it.

If the house was fixed up it would be a cozy place to live in.

5 grand is a good price. Another 5 and it could look like new. Oh well at least you got nice pictures before it is turned into a parking lot.

I'm reminded of

"They've paved paradise and put in a parking lot"

Like Anon, I can see a big old semi sitting in a empty lot that should have been refurbished by a loving family.

DD
Do you realy live in a town named Guntown or is it a name you've given it. If it is really called Guntown, there must be some history there. How about filling us in!!!
I know you can spin a good yarn!

DD... I live in Iowa and was wondering what part of the state you live in. I'm south of I80 and east of I35.

5 grand? That was the highest bid?

Damn.

If the foundation was good and the walls solid, about $80-90,000 would have brought it to splendor I bet.

I hate seeing houses with character/history demolished. Particularly when a FREAKIN' PARKING LOT will take its place.

(tear runs down face)

I second MonicaW42 - you take beautiful pictures!

Oh, I would so live there. That lovely huge tree looks like it would chuckle lovingly if you put a tire swing on its branches.

Bo Moon, places don't go that high in rural Iowa, not old places. I don't think anyone in my neighborhood paid more than 20 grand for their house. I once bought a farm house for $500 dollars. I had to put the plumbing in myself, but, it was a cute house.

Matilda, I live in SW Iowa, in Guntown and it's not on a map. If you write me I'll tell you where it is.
