I cut open a watermelon. I didn't want to waste any and it's hard to tell when they're ripe, but, I realized tonight, there's over 20 melons out there so I figured I'd try one. It wasn't quite ripe, but, still way way better than anything you can buy. This is a little variety and they aren't supposed to get red. They're a very pale yellow/pink color inside. I ate part of it anyway because, yum. It has super sugars in it. I think they'll all be ready in a couple of weeks! Yay. So cool.

There are three melons growing on that one vine! It's like what they lack in size they make up for in volume. And sweetness. Wow.

I see your sink! LOL!
Oh, that fucking stupid old sink. Gak.
Haaaa, that's funny anon!
It's great you are able to enjoy all these great veggies and fruits right from your very own garden. :)
How's your garden, Naseem?
you know, you should have lissa make your mom and her sister some 'vouchers' for 'free vegetables' that they could use in your garden, instead of having you drive 'em to get gub'ment lettuce....
i like sinks like that! :P
I never knew that watermelons came in this variety. I must go in search of these tiny-tot, melons. I have been on a tomato, watermelon and green pepper eating tangent for almost 3 weeks now.
Look up Sugar Baby and Yellow Doll.
I'm a lil slow on the get go here but as I was picking out a watermelon today I remembered reading your post and not knowing whether the watermelon was ready.
This may not work for "on the vine" watermelons but when picking them from the farmers market I thump them. The hollower (is that a word) they sound the riper and sweeter they are. My husband worked at a produce stand in Florida and this was how they picked out the best watermelons!!
Hope this helps
