Camping in the pumpkins

She just has such a good time here that she sobs with heartbreak when she leaves. It's so sweet. I taught her how girls pee in the woods last night. Hey, it's a skill every girl will need sometime.
She was afraid of the big walnut tree, it looks like the trees in Monster House, but, I told her it's a nice old tree and wants her to play. I told her to go find walnuts and throw them at the fence. Then the ancient tree would drop walnuts and she said "Grandma! It's playing catch with me!" I said, I told you it's not mean, it's just lonely. It likes her.

Yes, I remember crying when I left my Nana's house after a weekend with her. I was the oldest of four children and it was hard to get a lot of attention from my Mom. Nana gave me her whole, undivided attention when I was with her and I loved it!

Before she left she stuck some poppers under my chair wheels. You know those little gun powder charges they sell on the 4th? Scared me pee-lees. LMAO! I'll have to tell her that. That's a pretty good trick for a five yyear old to think of.

Hey, I wish someone would've taught ME that when I was Lissa's age! Mom was too busy trying to turn me into a little lady...obviously, that SO didn't work out..lol.

I love Pat's explanation that the tree was playing with Lissa! Too cool! Every kid should be so lucky to have a Gramma like Pat!

That is great DD. It looks like you guys have a blast! I bet she is counting down the days for next weekend. I think it is great that you guys have that kind of relationship. She is a cute little kid, and very smart it seems.

I really enjoy her now. I mean, I always loved her to pieces, but, when she was little that was work, but, now, it's just mostly fun.

She is so damn cute!! The best relationship I have had in my family has been with my grandmother. And, although she never taught me how to pee in the woods, I have amazing memories of my times with her. She's lucky to have you.

Ha Ha Ha, the visual of the poppers cracked me up. My kids asked me what I was laughing about, but I didn't dare give tham any ideas. This is so much better than talking about those blog-sucking vampires.

Lissa is sweet, clever with a dash of mischief! Perfect combo. I love the tree playing catch with her.

My kids grew up playing, "tag" with ocean waves. Nature can be a dandy playmate!

Lissa is definitely YOUR GIFT FROM THE UNIVERSE!!!!! I love how you two enjoy each others company and how she feels free to play tricks on you.... her dad must be lol-ing at both of you.
I KNOW how to pee in the woods too... hahahaha Pat, I bet you expected everyone to know that EXCEPT me right :) Well my grandfather had to teach me cause he'd take me to look for wild blueberries on all day excursions from the time I was about 5 or 6. Hey maybe I'm a countrygirl at heart.... :)

Nadine, hon, you're a lot of things, but, country girl is not one of them. LMAO!

Nina, I've been having dreams of the sea lately.

Nina said...

Pat, Dreams of the sea are wonderful. I always dream of floating around on a giant leaf and just gazing at the full moon and feeling the bob and sway of her motions. I think that single dream has kept me off anti-depressants and out of therapy all these years.

Sometimes I dream I am swimming like a mermaid and can see and breath under the water and play with the sea critters. That one is way less frequent than the other one.

I think your dreams mean something good is on the horizon.

Everything was birthed in the sea. To me, it is the womb of creation. Maybe you're book is about to be birthed, and Lady Oceana is preping you for the delivery...

I'm no expert on dreams but that was the first thought that came to me and I have learned that those initial vibes are sometimes pretty accurate!
