Escaped Pumpkins

My Pumpkins have made an escape and have now climbed the fence and are growing in my neighbors yard..about 50 feet from where they were planted. Pretty amazing since they had to climb the burn pile first. Their toddler pointed at a yellow one and said "Mine. MINE!" LOL! Yeah, Buddy, that's yours. I think there will be plenty for everybody..and they're gorgeous.

how soon after they flower do the little pumpkins start coming in? I planted some but they are still flowering that bright orange flower. I am up north so expect they will come in later-or at least hoping!

I love pumpkins, they make me happy. They mean an end to the oppressive heat and welcome in my favorite season:) Thanks for sharing them.

Hmm, Mags. Some of them come right away and other flowers don't make fruit at all. I'm pretty sure it's because they have to be pollinated. I have tons of honey bees, so most of mine fruited. If yours don't, you can pollinate them yourself using a paint brush. I saw a vid of a guy doing that. He just kept moving from flower to flower.

this goes along with this post: The latest news is that all the bees are dying & being killed off. So this will be reflected in our food prices soon. No pollination =no food! I guess it's for real. Kinda scary. 'Cuz we can't really fix it. It's already too late when we find out this stuff. Food shortages are expected. Let the bible thumpers get warmed up!
