For Alanna Smithie

Yep, we always had goats. They're real nice pets. Like I said in comments, if you decide to get just one, get a female. The Billy's pee on themselves and smell terrible. That's a female there with my daughter. They all get horns and butt, but, it's just a game and the horns grow pointing backwards, so they can't really hurt you. My daughter loved playing "run from the goat" with her friends and the goats would hide and mock ambush them. It was all in fun. They liked sleeping in dog houses. That one in the picture is April, she was a big Nubian and she slept in a lawn chair on the porch and rode in the car.

Goat factoid, did you know they don't have front teeth in the top? Nope. Just bottom teeth, so they can't bite. Though I've never seen one try to bite anyway. I've never seen one eat a tin can either, I think that's a myth. They do chew a lot of weird things though and you have to keep them away from the clothes line on wash day.

Yay! Yay! Yay! I just logged back in and saw this. It made my day. Thank you!

I never understood why we couldn't have one. I grew up on 7 acres, in the country, with a BARN. I was never allowed anything beyond cats, dogs, and guinea pigs. Thankfully the neighbors had horses so that was something.

Your daughter is precious in those pics by the way.

Awwww, thanks. She's still precious and now works in a vet clinic in Kansas City. You should get you a goat! They're really nice.

Ducks are extremely stupid. Being a country girl you probably knew that already. Really stupid creatures. Shakes head.

That tin can myth got started because sometimes a goat will lick the label off a can cause the glue tastes good to them.

My kids (no pun intended) were raised on raw goats milk.I was such a hippie in the olden days.

That is such a cute pic of your daughter! I would love to get Pigmy goats someday--they're adorable, and they like to climb stuff. Ducks are dumb? Never knew.....I know they're kinda anti-social little beggars, but that's the extent of my duck education!
Tell me more! :)

My grandpa brought my mom home a goat once, drove my grandma crazy. It used to stand on the kitchen table and just stare at my grandma. Safe to say, that didn't last long.

Every single time I saw goats, I would pitch a fit until I was allowed to go pet it. Same thing happened just a couple of weeks ago. I was hiking in the Blue Mountains and there are goats everywhere! I stood there petting this little baby and totally didn't notice that another one behind me had eaten the drawstrings out of the jacket I had tied to my backpack.

Any dreams of owning a goat will have to be deferred. I have no room for one, although it might be fun to take him on walks to the park.

Pat,
I know next to nothing about the IQ of ducks but I do know your daughter's adorable! I do think ducks are cute though. I love the way the babies swim in a line behind the mom.

Awww, Casey J. You were fearless, everything was your friend. You were the first one to pet the bear! OMG! I nearly had a heart attack. LMAO!
