Laundry day, what is there to say? It's hotter than a bitch out there and miserable and the first things I hung out were dry before I got to the bottom of the basket. I still hang my underwear on the middle line, the sign of a decent woman, which I assure you, I am not. Just ask the Sisters, they'll tell you I'm bound for Hell. LOL! The shit I was taught, eh? I wouldn't have a dryer for free, hanging out laundry is just something I've always liked doing. I have to go fill up all the bird baths now. I'll beat all these clothes with a broom before I take them in, because of the damn evil grasshoppers. Poor garden, it's turning brown now, which is part of it's cycle, but, still makes me sad. The flowers are still nice though.

don't your clothes smell weird after they hang out in the hot humid sun? My mom used to do this and I hated it. I always felt like the clothes needed to be washed again to get rid of that smell...maybe it's just me because everyone I know loves hanging their clothes outside/
No, they smell awesome and fresh. That's one of the reasons I do it. They do get a little stiff though, you have to give them a good shake when you put them away and it takes that stiffness out.
I can think of one reason your clothes smelled funny. Maybe she took them off the line before they were real dry? Then they get musty smelling. I've had that happen when it rains on laundry day.
i was sitting out front yesterday and i heard the grasshoppers crunch crunch crunching away!
i would hang my clothes out to dry but have horrid horrid allergies!
I'm hearing cicadas today and have been the last couple of weeks. That's when I know summer is winding down.
There must be days in dead of winter when you can't hang your laundry out. What then?
come to think of it...I think you're right. They were always a little damp...musty..perfect word
I hang them in winter too. I take them down frozen and set them on chairs in front of the heater.
Oh, ick, cicadas. I hate those big weird things. Last year I found one in the shower and I had to call someone to get it. Eww.
what about in the winter? Snow up to your ass & ice on the clotheslines! And towels are so stiff & scratchy when they hang out unless there is a wind to whip them. I hang out lots too when its warm out. In the winter here in Indiana, there's just no way! I'm sure my queries have already been answered but did not read the comments yet! LOL

They get stiff as a board, but, most of the moisture still dries. I finish them by the heater. I don't have a lot of laundry since I live alone. That's a months worth right there.
Hotter than the devil's nutsack....that's how hot it is.

That's such a pretty picture! Your colorful clothes blend in perfectly with the colorful flowers. I love it.
LOL Daphne.
