Little frog

Mom had this poor Asparagus fern that was dying, so I hung it under her eaves where there was a stray nail sticking out. It's really high up and I try to remember to squirt it with the hose as I walk by. Tonight I found out this little tree frog had made a home in there. He gets to gorge himself on flying insects with no fear from predators. Pretty smart. He had to move while the water drained and then he went back in. Tell me that's not cute. Wooket him widdle feets!

That's some pretty cute feet alright. I hope it stays put. That would be a really cool thing.

I went for a walk along a mill race one day and a huge frog had set itself up beside a pile of dog crap. Not a very nice thing for an owner to leave behind but the frog had a non stop supply of flies for as long as it needed. I hate when dog owners leave their dog's crap in the grass - do they even think about the little kids following behind? - but I had to laugh that time.

LOL. Very cute. What's the difference between a toad & a frog? Is that a stupid question? I have tons of one or the other in my yard, big & small. Sammy & I caught one the other day, she thought it was just the cat's ass! Squealing with glee everytime it jumped out of my hand. I posted a pic the other day. I think it was a toad?

LOOOOVVVE frogs. Am very envious. No frogs in our garden.

Good question, Biz. Hmm. I guess frogs are slimey feeling and toads are dryer. Frogs don't have warts. You could kiss it and if it didn't turn into a prince, you'd know it's a toad. Heh.

I am escrow, but, you can pause them. It's a cool site. I'm watching Love Object..OMG, it's creepy.

Biz, you are seriously freeking me out with the wild life in your yard!! WTF? It's like going to the zoo.

LMAO...I know, right? Add in the kid, dog and cat and it's absurd. We got to the playground yesterday and there was a wild turkey ON TOP of the monkey bars. Just hanging out.

Pat,
Have you ever seen "Don't be Afraid of the Dark"? That movie scared the hell out of me. I have a collection of horror movies from the early 50's thru late 1970's. I can only watch them during the day or at night if someone is in the house with me. I am wussy.

Pat, if you get Discovery Channel, there are two documentaries on sharks on, starting at 11 p.m.

Frogs turn into princes when you kiss them, toads don't but trick you into thinking they will. That's a toad for ya. I read it on the internet so it's true.

I thought the simple difference was that frogs had smooth skin and live around water and toads have bumpy skin and live on dry land, but when I googled it, it isn't so cut and dried. Some fit into both categories.

Monica, I posted about Don't be Afraid of the Dark awhile back. I even found it on You Tube and put it on here. It scared me when I was young. This time it didn't. Still good though.

I'm so sad to admit this, but I took my kids to the lake this summer, and they caught some tadpoles. I remember catching tadpoles as a kid and watching them change, so I thought it would be fun for them, and then we would let them go. Well, they caught 7 all together (actually about 15, but I made them let the rest go) and we brought them home. One by one, they died. My daughter had one left, and it was starting to get an arm, and we found it floating yesterday. I am so sad about this. I would have NEVER brought them home if I had known that this would happen. I feel so bad that I didn't leave them in their "home". My kids ended up really sad and we killed 7 tadpoles. I can't even begin to describe how guilty I feel.

I like frogs and toads too. Up here we have giant bullfrogs who hang out in the marshy wetlands. Come dusk they do their croak-songs. It's sort of cute. Singles bars on lilly-pads in Frogsville!

My brother and I caught the cutest teeniest tadpoles at our cabin one summer. we brought them home with some of the pond water and put them in a little aquarium on the porch. My dad helped us with what to feed them and they turned into the smallest frogs I've ever seen, they fit on my pinkie nail. They were spring peepers and they all jumped out the aquarium and peeped so loud we couldn't sleep for weeks. My dad knew what they were when we brought them home and thought it was hilarious.

that is very cute and I bet you he/she will be there for awhile now. Animals are pretty smart.

My dog unexpectingly died this morning. We had him for just over 10 years from a puppy, so I am pretty devistated (Pat I wrote you about it).

Just saw the frog and thought about my dog and how much pleasure animals do bring you.
